Quake 4 Demo!!!!!

Just get the game its good.

IF you are going to get it make sure you have a top of the line Graphics card. It's just better that way.
 
Wow. When I try to run Quake 4 at HIGHEST POSSIBLE settings, it crashes while loading. But on HIGHER settings it plays perfectly, too perfectly, which is why I want to play on highest settings...
 
Hmm i will definately try it out. Not hearing amazing things about this game though, kind of a shame. id should have made it. :(
 
I think this game is rather awesome. Maybe even better then Doom 3.
 
Too bad my computer doesn't meet the minimum system requirements. I have a 1.8 Ghz processor, will it still work?

OR you could be smart and try the demo before you spend valuable dollars on a purchase.

Raven did a far better job than Id would`ve.
 
Well, just got done with it. Pretty neat, I liked some of the scripted sequences. Especialy liked the begining, very much like Quake 2 and reminded me alot of OP4. Controlls were easy to manage, didnt make my computer explode even tho i'm running on a Radeon 9600 Pro, yet still looked pretty.

But..I just wasnt all that amazed. It was Doom 3 to me, with more 'watch your friends die' in it. I really didint feel that whole "OMFG WAR! OMFG WE'RE DOWN! OMFG WE'RE SO F-KING SCREWED." like I've felt in other games. I felt more like "Okay, ship crashed. Noone really seems that pissed off about it. I managed to live. Nice. Okay, I just watched my buddy get slashed up. But it happened so fast I couldnt barely tell wtf it was. Alrighty weapons are set up everywhere and randomly for my convienence. I just cleared out this area, I have friendlies behind me and infront of me, yet strogg just magicly seem to appear out of nowhere."

Just doesnt seem to cut the cake for me :( Tis a shame really.

Definitely not the best game but it was still a pretty good experience though it could get really repetetive quickly seeing the same old environments and monsters.

I'll download this bad boy tonight and have a go.
 
Just buy Quake 4. You'll love it.
please do not buy if you have a weak stomach and cannot stand to see legs being sawed off.

thats because ultra settings require 512 mb of texture information

and yes Quake 4 is really good and highly underrated.
 
Guys, little FYI...

This is not an official demo. It was accidently put onto the id software FTP, and then obviously grabbed and mirrored on all sites before id could take it off their FTP (which they have done).

This is an untested and unfinal version of the demo! The final and tested version will come early next week if all goes to plan, and will include working multiplayer.

So I suggest waiting until next week to get the demo, so that way you get the whole package.

I just saw the System Requirements, and I've BARLEY made it. :burp: Downloading Demo now. :)
Can't wait to play it. They say it continues from Quake 2.
 
I thought Quake 4 was good.
You got team-mates that actually can kill (!) the enemy. :O

Can you people PLEASE stop trying to mislead us and let us try the demo? I tried it and it was a joke. The graphics were laughable and the gameplay was stale. There's a reason why it got low scores.
 
What the hell? There's people out there that actually LIKE the singleplayer? What the **** have you been sniffing? Only good points in this game were the good performance even with my low-end computer, and the flashlight on the machine gun, that was fun to tweak on and off.

Dunno about multiplayer though, didnt try that. You'll probably love it if you liked Quake 3 arena, I heard.
 
Very good demo! Was just alittle too dark. But I'm defentally going to buy the full thing for Christmas. :D I'm a fan of the Quake series (SP only though).

Something I don't understand though. The guy claims that some "Rogue Marine"(had to listen to it for the 3rd time to hear "Rouge" instead of "Low-Class"), who is you in Quake 2, took out the Big Gun and their leader.
Why are the Strogoss Freaks still ready to pwn anyone that stands in their way? Revenge? Or did they find a new leader?

I have learned this. Medics are your best friend, and they seem to have unlimited healing power. Which is good since there appears to be no cheats in a Demo. :p
I still survived the entire thing without dying once...barley, on the easiest skill setting too.

I spent over 2 hours downloading it and started rubbing my hands together like a fly getting ready to eat, and it said, "CANNOT ****ING INSTALL NEWBIE YOUR HARD DISC IS FULL OF SHIT"

so i erased a bunch of demos i had that I don't play....now i have to download it again

dam i need to install my new hard drive but don't feel like learning how

just curious, why has it taken iD this long for a demo?
oh well...i want the game and should help me determine whether it would be a good purchase.
 
How superbly average. What did they hope to accomplish by releasing Quake 4 in this state. Meh.
 
I don't know what all you naysayers are complaining about...

I found the demo incredibly fun.
Didn't have a big-huge war feel to it though, was expecting to see random strogg and human soldiers fighting around me... and artillery shells slamming the ground, shaking it... Though, they tried I guess.

Multiplayer's pretty Quake 3ish... I guess when they said it was broken, they meant when you hit ESC and look through the menus and stuff, it would crash.

I'm definitely picking this one up.

that was the shoooooooooortest demo evar! looks good though.
was fun too. i may pick it up at christmas
 
I can't be bothered waiting for this thing to start downloading, nor do I wish to sign up to a site which I never visit.

I think I'll just wait until it becomes more widely available.

Looking forward to it though! Seen as the views on the game are so diverse, the only opinion that matters to me now is my own. :)
 
It was decent, pretty dang easy even on the hardest mode. Some sweet guns and nice graphics, looked way too much like doom though.

Gameplay was meh. Just a matter of point and shoot, unload a couple bullets, and move on. Fairly repetitive but it's just a demo.
 
Its just like Doom3.
Extremely impressive presentation, graphics and high quality voice-overs, but Not really any fun


everything was green. :bonce: I've got the latest drivers, but everything in the game was shades of green and the planet was some phsycadelic orange and pink.

WTF?
 
Just played through it, I liked it :D Definately more fun than Doom 3, the weapons had a nice feel to them.
