question about Half life source

I bought the normal hl2 at the store and all that. I wanted to play half life source but the thing I bought doesn't come with it. I understand that. Anyways when I go on steam and look at the different packages I can buy like gold and stuff to get HL:S it says I already have hl2 registered and that I can't make another purchase. Is there any way I can ever get to play hl:s?

Some people say you'll be able to upgrade your package later if you wish to.

I doubt it though. You got the package you purchased. Want another title? Better fork out some more cash.

If you are willing to fork out for a whole package (eg silver) then you can just create a new steam account and buy it on that, problem is, your HL2 that came from the store would become kinda a waste of money

i find this whole thing ridiculous, valve should make it possible to upgrade your store purchased hl2 so that it is like the silver packet. just charge 20 bucks for it, a bit more expensive but still not the whole price of hl2

take it to cash converters and see if they buy it

then make a new steam account, and buy hl2 gold/silver on it
