I am sad and dissapointed by this news, as are many others who have waited for so long for this game to finally come into fruition. It's understandable that they may need more time to work on 'getting the game right'; but their timing on this announcement, so near to the original release date, is less than desirable.
I thought I would canvas your level of dissapointement.

How about a poll on how much the moderators are going to be groaning from all these similar posts when they log on? Sheesh!

We're all going to buy the game anyway.

"Wait so long for this game"?

Erm, It's not that long. It was announced in May.

That's true, most of us will probably buy the game eventually. However, a two month wait is a long time to lose interest in a game.

Take Duke Nukem Forever, as a prime example.

I’m not so much disappointed at the delay, although of course I’m looking forward to playing the games ASAP. But extremely disappointed in the way Valve has been pulling peoples chains for the past month or two with a release date they new wasn’t viable.

Duke Nukem never gets old.

"It was announced in May" -- Thats it!! You never wait such a short time for a game!

And DukeNukemForever: ...next year we get a new trailer and the hype beginns...again!

Perhaps they were always going to release it at Xmas?

Think about it for a moment...

It's a major game, and just about anyone who has a PC, is bound to have heard of Valve's original game 'Half Life'.

Why would they risk the sequel to this game in September, when they can increase sales and revenues during the holiday season?

They know that the 'hype wagon', will be well under way. Why not capitalise on this early hype and make it roll a little further for another two months?

Makes sense to me - especially when you think of it in a purely business orientated way.
