Racism In CS?

I have been playing CS source since it's launch. In that time frame i have never experiace any form of racism in any server i have played, until, that is ,this weekend. Were in mulitple severs that I played I was bashed with racist cr@p.

I am AzN and my player name has it wrtten
I have since changed it because i don't want to deal with that kind of siht whatsoever anymore. anyomoity kick arse!!!

i consider myself a gamer above all else. Maybe these people were joking. It would okay with me if they were my buddies. But they were not. I was wondering if flaming people thru racist remarks was a tactic of some sort, but thats pretty tastless and it dosen't work. I could care less if someone calls me gook or chinky. But it dose get annoying after a while if they contiuoly blare it out rasict s^#t over the com, over and over agian.
IT kills the the fun of playing CS for me. All i want to do is play a game and have fun. Not be bashed for being different. Plus it makes the CS commuity look bad.

1. Disable mic com.
2. Remove any part of name that implies race.
3. Problem solved.

Then why are you letting it affect you? When someone says that shit, just ignore them. Most of the people that say that stuff are immature kids. I learned along time ago to just ingore those idiots. It's not worth it to get all steamed over (no pun intended). :afro: :D
 
Don't play CS looking for kind and gentle people. CS is full of racist haxx0rs who just love giving people a hard time. They ruin CS for all. Just remove any reference to who you are from your name is all I can think of.

Funny enough though, I bet if you were to put gook or chink in your name you probably wouldn't be a target for racism......strange how that works :monkee:
 
I just started playin CS with source, and I have NEVER seen a more racist bunch online than with any other game. I'm not pointin fingers at anyone, but I've heard the N word mentioned more times than Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown combined. lol

Don't sweat it man, just ignore it and rake up the kills. Then at the end of the match taunt em with it... like "aww whitey can't shoot". lol (i'm white so its not racist, for all u flamers)
 
Once you bring race into it, you have to deal with the consequences.
I mean, if you put "AzN" in your nick, you're bound to get some people who want to pick at that.

I almost stopped playing 1.6 when i was younger because of the racism (being jewish) they would always bash jews in most servers and i usually didn't say anything but it was still hurtful...But i don't care if someone says like "don't be jewish" or something like that but some of the things i heard...But source doesn't seem to have as much.

man, if you think chinese people are picked on, think about whiteboys in singapore (almost china). not much better. just dont imply anything about yourself in your name and you wont have problems.

Yeah like i said i changed my player name and it dosnet bother me if some said gook or chink thats just words with no real meaning to me. but they said much worse things than that. OVER and over agian. And seem they were getting off by saying it. Kind of scary in way.

It just that i was suprised that i would find people who were like that on CS.
 
Don't change your name just because of them. They're immature cowards, hiding behind a monitor.

Also, Racism is stupid. If someone's racist towards you... then leave. I would... Or kick them, if you're admin of a server.

thats a stupid solution. It is ridiculous to tell people of different races that they cant use voice com or represent their race. By doing so, you are supporting the segregation. Be proud of your culture and respresent it no matter what some ignorant fool tried to tell you or call you. You are who you are.

Something I love about CS, and gaming in general, is the cultural diversity of gamers. Though often not gender diversified, you can find blacks, whites, asians, etc who all are into gaming. The fact that racism exists and is carried over into gaming is ridiculous and sad.

If you are racist, keep it between yourself and ur Klanmates. ok?

Maybe this thread would have a better place in Politics discussion or could easily branch off into another thread.
 
i found that in the older half life games u couldnt disable mic comm. no matter how many times i turned it off, i always heard ppl.

if the server allows, call a kick vote.

but racism is everywhere, and always will be. schools, some places of work, down the streets, the club, the pub, the movies, the internet, chats. happens to just about everyone.

best to just ignore it, and not say anything. though sometimes ppl are just jokin about, and dont realise they are going too far

btw, im german
 
the most racist people I have encountered in any game tend to be thugs...white,black,mexican,whatever...you know the ones who shout "Yo N*gga!" and "wassup fool!!" like most stoners say "dude!"...apparently,white boys can't shoot....and should get our "cracker" asses out of these games..
 
After not playing CSS for a month or so (comp problems) the first server i join has a guy with a swaztika spray..and he's saying things like "the only thing jews are good for is putting in the oven"....I flammed him and went out of my way to kill him and then he got banned and reported...but still
 
Stop playing the game if its an issue...Or really you could just IGNORE it. If you are just now having an issue with it, you haven't played CS long.

i see it all the time, racist names, people saying racist things and typing them. It is sad, but remember these are weak individuals, cowards who would never do such a thing in a real life situation. Best thing to do is ignore them.
 
Oh man... yeah CSS is full of racist people... I even found myself using politically incorrect, derogatory terms (which used to be ok to us 50 years ago). Looking back... I laugh. Most online games will have people like that. Ignore it or cry, because you can't do jack. /end rant. :O

The cs community is by far the worst gaming comunity out of every game out so far. There are maybe 1 out of 100 cs players that are nice and teamplayers! its pathetic but true, stick with hl2dm or some other mods, those communities are the best.

ps. TFC has the best community out of every hl mod :)
 
I thought you were going to say something about CT or T not having any colored people... which they should have, so you could choose your color so to speak.
 
Yeah I was playing CS and I shot some guy on my team by accident and he yelled out over the voice comm "NIGG.ER!!!!" I was like wtf dude I'm not even black and he just left. Quite some strange people playing CS.

Also many times I have killed someone and they come back next round and call me a "Chink!!!1111" (once again I'm not even asian). Most CS players are really really stupid.

Well it's not just white people bossing people around telling people who shouldn't speak over the mic or represent their race. I played once with some guy who was (obviously) black and calling all the white people "crackas" over the mic and doing some anti-white gangsta rap over the voice comm. So don't think it's just one race being bigoted, FYI.
 
Just put it behind you. Most of these "ganstas," or other BS are only 12 year olds getting off by being assholes to other people. On a side note, the voice com makes my voice sound deep and intimidating, so i have fun telling people to zip it.

Use a non descript name... like mine "Kebean PFC." It is easy to say or spell, easy to remember and no racial stuff in it at all.

BTW: I am Czechoslovakian (or politically correct way Czech "Republic.")

trash talk including racist comments is a way to tilt a player (poker term for making irrational decisions based on emotions.. my definition)

i am a canadian chinese... proud of it... and if someone made a comment that insulted me, racist or otherwise i'd show them what it means to be 'pwned'
 
If people annoy you over comms, just press escape, then click playerlist, and find their name and mute them... Tada, you can't hear them anymore.
 
It's a game. It's the internet. Don't worry too much about it.

Racial slurs are getting to the point of "fag" and "gay"; that is, it's not even pertaining to being homosexual anymore, it's just a word that people use. To the guy who said he's Jewish, I imagine you must (understandably) get ticked off when people say things like, "Aw, that's Jewish," or "Jewed!" I never got that usage, but a lot of people say it; not just online either.

Plus, with the internet, people can go around saying, "chinks, n*ggers," etc. without getting punched in the face. Whether it's because somebody is really a racist or just saying the word on impulse, who can say. Some people just do it to get a rise out of others. In either case, all you have to do is ignore them and they will go away. Or, at the very least, they'll keep trying to say stuff over the mic and you're being the better person by ignoring them. Why worry about what someone's saying in a game? You're never going to meet them, there's a low chance you'll ever see them in a server again, and by saying stuff against them you're just falling into a trap. If you tell them to stop or try to retaliate they're just going to laugh on the other side of the monitor and keep talking shit. Best advice I can give is just ignore them.

BTW, OP, just a pet peeve of mine, don't say AzN. You're Asian. I myself am half-Filipino, and I absolutely detest people saying AzN. I swear to God everyone I've come across who calls themself an AzN tYpEs LiEk ThIs fOr SoMe StRaNgE aNd AnNoYiNg ReAsOn. Aside from that word though you seem like you're able to type in a normal manner, though. :p We're Asians, not AzNs. Having a Z in there and dropping a few letters doesn't make us any cooler or hardcore or whatever it is people are trying to do by doing that. I don't get it and it bothers me.

That's probably one of the reasons people get racist, dude. Not just the fact that you said you're Asian, because I've had games with people who have a nationality in their name and they haven't gotten picked on. It's probably 'cause you had AzN in your name. A name with something like that, in CS? That's like walking into a forest during deer season wearing a buck-suit. Here's an experiment...try actually putting whatever your race really is into a fake name, and see if anyone says anything. Something like "China Dude" or "Thai Guy," whatever. I'll bet there's a marginally lower chance of someone saying something to you than if you were "AzN l33t4CS."

Well even though this was on the first page Im gonna respond.
Yes but that dosn't mean people arn't gonna get more ideas about it.
If you put it there then people are going to have a higher chance of saying something.

If I said I was athiest every single day outloud, there would be quite a few people asking me why are you athiest bla bla bla..

I am pushing for something to happen.

Now on most servers I go to admins tell people to take racism out of there names and shit like that.
So get on a better server. Alot of servers are very nice and do not tolerate racism.
