Rainbow Six: Vegas, looks great!!

Thought you where joking, really coming out with a vegas game! Interesting. I might have to buy it.

I think I prefer the more plan and move of RB6 1 and 2 over this console dumbed downed style.

The R6 franchise is ruined and will not be brought back to its roots. The new wave console generation has ruined it because console people are dumb and can't be bothered with a game if it isn't run and gun. The FPS should of stayed on the PC.

There's like three 10 min movies of the whole level, really looks like an ace game

The guy walking by in the helicopter looked like he was real.

Console people are dumb huh? Please use your brain before making such sweeping generalizations. I love FPS games on PC and on consoles. In both cases, I want simple controls so that I can focus on enjoying the game instead of figuring out what button to press.

Take exactly the same video, lable it as a pc exclusive, and the praise would come rolling in ;)

Indeed, but what I think is the thing that annoys people, is the fact it's labeled as Rainbow Six, which, even though I've enjoyed the console Rainbow Six, is pretty sad tbh, because they don't feel ANYTHING like Rainbow Six Rogue Spear for example, the best game in the series imo.:)

I'm looking forward to this none the less though.

to Echo Gargantou point, RB6 was ALL about pre planning. It was more a strat game than a FPS. With the evolution of Console Rainbow sixes (And Ghost recon) the Strat part has been shelved in favour of fancy special effects.

This series HAS been dumbed down, and I doubt that console releases aren't related to this fact. The console market has never had the strat backbone that the PC does, console games aren't always dumbed down, but they do cater for a larger audience. And when you have a larger audience you have a larger number of dumb people playing it.

We used to love playing Rainbow Six Coop, hitting rooms from two sides, flash bangs and go, same with ghost recon.

As is this game looks smart, but really doesn’t merit the Rainbow Six tag, it’s hardly looking like a tactical shooter, however good it looks.

umm just because you dont put stupid little circles on a mini map (like you did in R6 on the n64) doesnt mean the game is dumbed down. in fact it looks like its a hell of a lot more intelligent than the older r6 games. ill definitely buy this one.

hey, if you generalise all console gamers as dumb, am i free to generalise all pc gamers as hyper-active, ugly kids, failing @ high school who swear too much and play cs all day ?

yeh, it's not nice and is easily done from either side, shh.

the only way it's 'dumbed down' is the no pre-planning like in the previous games, like rogue spear and what not but if you watch some of the e3 2k6 gameplay videos, you'll see the game is quite tactical though if you want you can just go 'rambo' and run around shooting everything.

is this for PC or xbox360.
Becuase it looks awesome.

I think it's coming out on 360, PS3, Xbox, and PS2. Of course the last generation is going to have to be downgraded quite a bit. The next-gen versions use Unreal Engine 3, which is why it looks so amazing. :)

Unreal 3 engine = hawt.

Unfortunately, the destruction of one of the greatest tactical shooter series ever = bad.

Plus, I don't think I've ever seen bloom/hdr overused more. I think they chose Vegas just so they could do that.

i thought they were going to release it on the last generation but i think the latest thing i heard was it won't be, i'll have to double check though.

Okay, people are clearly getting the wrong end of the stick.

1. This game looks great, gameplay looks tight, interesting features etc etc.

2. I like this kind of game, I loved Half-life 2, GRAW, etc.

3. I like Rainbow 6 because it's the MOST tactical game out there. We're not talking gimmics like optic cameras, and hand movements to make your two squad members move. We're talking planning, strat, which weapons to take, Light armour for sneaker inflitration or Heavy armour for max protection. Flash bangs, door charges, go silent or go gun ho. Maps you can go around anyway you want, that are built like real life(ish) and not games. Totally unlinear. There are two maps in RB6 were you can't be seen, and you can't shoot anyone, leading to tense inflitration/extraction gameplay.

4. While I see nothing wrong with this game, indeed I think I'll probally get it, it's going to be your standard linear shooter style game, go from A to C via B, witness several cool combat areas, do fancy stuff, all good. However to argue that its not been dumbed down when it now seems more like republic commando than rainbow six isn't gonna swing it.

Lockdown is the only R6 that sucked, so just wait for this one
it looks promising

PS2 and XB1 etc versions were cancelled, as of right now, it's only planned for the PS3 and XB360..

Looks pretty good. I will probably get it. I do miss the old rainbow six and ghost recon games though. I don't think it was dumbed down, but they definately did a bit of a genre switch.

ok ok ok ok, can someone just answer one question, is it for PC also?

I dont want a YES or NO, i want a SOURCE stating it.

One thing I don't like.

"Vegas will feature a Call of Duty 2 like health system where the player regenerates health whilst not taking fire, which will result in less dying and a stronger focus on tactical gameplay"

How can it lead to a STRONGER focus on tactical gameplay? Knowing that you have to plan your move to PREVENT DYING and PREVENT getting shot at makes a STRONGER focus on tactical gameplay imo.. Now one can just fire a few bullets into a room full of enemies, run for cover, wait for health to refill, repeat.:p Lame, imo.. But I'm sure some people here like regenerating health, so to each man his own I guess.. Doesn't make for a MORE tactical game though imo..

Agreed 100%. Way too many games are taking this crappy regenerating health approach. It was cool in Halo because it was a Sci-fi run and gun game. But now developers are saying "lol that was teh best idea evor!" and putting it in games where it doesn't fit. Call of Duty 2 (WWII shooter), Splinter Cell: Double Agent (modern combat stealth game), and this game (modern combat tactical shooter) should not have regenerating health. It makes the game less tactical, realistic, challenging, and intense knowing that you can hide in a corner and be as good as new in a few seconds.

No developer would ever say that. That's not even remotely funny.

The health regeneration thing worked in CoD2 because it's such an action-packed shoot the piss out of everything that moves kind of shooter, that it made it more fun. However, in a tactical shooter I don't see it working.

Looks cool and all, fun gameplay etc etc...

Just for the love of god, don't call it Rainbow Six. Let the name die with the dignity it has left. This isn't a hardcore fast paced tactical shooter. It's an action movie with cool moves.

The fact that the camera automatically moves to third person, and the wall hugging... no...

I'm not bashing the game. Just please, call it "Special Ops: Vegas" or simply "Vegas" or anything. Just don't kill the R6 name anymore. =(

I'm not saying the game won't be great, it's just... not rainbow six.

You guys know this is old... from E3, right? Think I've seen it at IGN a while back.

They need to bring it back to the RvS days... stupid asses!
