Ravenholm is scary

Help! I got to Ravenholm, but the psychological pressure is too much. The zombies and the overall ambiance totally freak me out, and I'm too scared to continue, or even turn the next corner! I need to get to the next level, so how should I get through this?

Try to keep in mind it's only a game, and the zombies cant actually hurt you.
You could also try to turn off your sound, but really dude. It's not that bad, it's a part of the experience to get alittle scared=D

Yeah I agree, least scary of all scary areas in scary games. Sure, maybe if they were actual mutants or monsters or real zombies, I'm not afraid of a headcrab manipulating a human corpse -_-

Fast zombies were really the only creatures that were able to catch me off guard in Ravenholm. Standard and poison zombies are a joke, really.

I think some people are kidding themselves if the won't admit that during the first time the fast zombies come bounding over rooftops, they thought "holy shit..."

I don't remember the first time I played hl2. Been too long.

The only thing that made me flinch was the stalker in the pod in the citadel.

I was scary when I 1st time played thru Ravenholm very scary.

It still freaks me out... The first time, I just let my sis play that area. The second time, I was on Buddha mode. Hopefully by the third time I play, it'll be honest zombie crushing.

I was terrified my first play through. It was the night of HL2's release and I got to Ravenholm at about 2 AM. With headphones, and all the lights off. Scary. I jumped about 15 feet when my mother randomly came downstairs and put her hand on my shoulder.

I could still play though. OP reminds me of playing Wolf3d when I was six, I was too afraid to go out the door of the first room because of the nazi dogs outside.

Reminds me of Duke Nukem 3d, the demo way back in the 90's. Too scared to step out of the first elevator.

Of course, today, Ravenholm only scares me if something happens that I don't expect, like getting completely surrounded by zombies and poison zombies (that jumping puzzle on the "wrong side of town"

Luckily a double shotgun blast cleared the way out of that mess.

I was scared at first. I did it a few months ago, and completed it, it really isn't all that scary. Especcially if you've braved through Lowlife. I made a thread just like this for my first post here.
Oh Planetary, I got in a mess like that. Only I had to use my CROWBAR. D:

No one played Resident Evil ever?

Those games were scarier because of the damn camera angles. No idea if you were going to walk into a bunch of zombies who'd eat you.

And dying was worse too. Because they actually showed them eating your corpse.

Yeah I agree, played Ravenholm the first time late at night when it first came out, scary stuff. The fast zombies are all well and good, but I ****ing hate posion zombies, still do, they scare the shit out of me. Just turning around and getting a poision headcrab projectile in your face freaks me out. And they make a scary moan too

Fast Zombies were scary until I discovered that they do barley any damage.

Agreed. Fast Zombies are the hopeless mutants of the Zombie family.

Personally, it was a bit disturbing, but that made it more FUN :D

Except, I love firearms and was very :| when I ran out of ammo.

Before, I was all like "COME GET SOME! COME ON AND GET SOME!" and then CLICK. :<

Fast zombies would have been 100x scarier if they didn't cooldown between each attack.

If you thought Ravenholm was scary, just wait till you reach Nova Prospekt.

Ravenholm is scarier than Nova Prospekt.

i felt that Nova Prospekt had a scarier feel to it,I mean,an abandoned prison with dead soldiers lying all over

freakin spooky

I was scared because i didnt know ware to go and the infinite spawning Zombies made is harder for me to concentrate on getting out of there.

I hated this part of the town.

Infinite npcs isn't fun. I love clearing out everything in a map with the big damn satisfaction feeling.

I despised working with the antlions,I shoot them down when they pop up,if they were in front of me,it was on a narrow walkway, and, remember that laser trip wire,I jump over that successfully, but,as soon as I land I get blown up because the good ole antlion being a retard

Just shoot the tripmines from a distance, with your pistol.

Or send the antlions first.

well thats just not fair,if those snipers weren't there, the people would have been helpful
in that collapsed tunnel, the rebels destroyed many manhacks so I could kill the combine more easily

I can watch a million scary movies and it will never bother me, "creepy" places in real life won't either, but put me in a video game with something remotely scary and I freak out. So yeah, Ravenholm scared me too. Lowlife too.

I thought Ravenholm was kind of tame. Then again, not my kind of horror. I was way more freaked out by the Advisor Pod Room in Episode 1, and the hatching Advisor in the barn during Episode 2. Very disturbing.

scary? I was like cool a giant slug! it's not that disturbing, it's not like seeing that in real life.

That's my opinion anyway.

I'm hating advisors more and more just because you can't do shit when they're around.

Not fun.

i see you are scared by my once beautiful town but it is all lost do not be afraid make great use of my traps! just be careful to not fall in them your self.
