RC Last Week?

"Last week we received a Half-Life 2 release candidate from Valve, and in its current state Half-Life 2 is brilliant and looks astonishing," a Vivendi spokesperson went on to talk about the current status of the game, saying: "Vivendi Universal Games is in the midst of determining whether Half-Life 2 meets the gameplay standard of the company and more importantly the devoted Half-Life fanbase."

Ummmm... last week started on the 19th and ended the 25th. Therefore either this quote is from last week, or gabe lied about the RC being sent on the 16th.

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks for the hospitality... I have read through the forms for awhile now and felt like contributing.

Anyway back on subject the quote says

I know it is possible that it could be the seccond or third, but the way it is worded suggests otherwise.

I think the real question is when is there only one RC.
Most games have 3-6 I think.

2nd rc, ppl speculate that the large cs:s update (the 1 that improved some cards by like 225% or summat) was 'coz the 1st rc was not accepted and they found holes in the programming ( afformentioned graphics improvement)

Actually... they said they received it last week. Who's to say it magically got to them the day after being sent out.

I work for a software company myself and typically, we go through 3-4 RC's before stamping Gold on any of our products...

would make sense that it was a new RC after the major CS:S beta update that replaced the entire engine. dson't know what was changed, but the whole thing was overwritten.
