RC On the 15th?

I think it will be delivered as said, but Valve won´t say ONE thing except if it goes Gold...
If it has been declined by Vivendi, they will not speak.. I promise..
 
Meh, It doesn't bother me after learning that the CK8-04 won't be out untill Q1 '05.

I don't understand how people can get so irate over this. I swear many of them just do it on principle now, like some knee-jerk reaction.

It's the new nvidia chipset for the amd athlon 64 boards.
 
Well it's likely to be approved because Valve never rush to release games and they always spend a lot of time checking and fixing bugs before they even send a release candidate to their publishers. The likelyhood of Half-Life 2 going gold within a week is very high, provided that Valve do indeed submit a release candidate to Vivendi tomorrow.
 
It´s been a while since they stated the date, too. Things might have changed.
 
I expect there will be at least one more CS:S patch before the RC comes around. Still a few bugs to be squashed from what I've read.
 
I have low expectations. If they send it tomorrow... great. If they don't... then no big deal. Either way I am happy.

Thing about making a game is Valve can say the hope to have a RC by Sept 15, but making a game isn't like watching a timer count down to zero and on Sept 5 the game is magically finished. Nor can Valve find a bug that needs to be fixed and say "This will be fixed in 48 hours" because a fix can be done in 48 but it creates other problems.. there are just too many factors.
 
Despite knowing the dynamic unpredictable nature of release dates i'll still feel disappointed when this week is over and there's nothing but silence and a stupid piece of tumble-weed bouncing along......wtf.

As far as I can tell, the beta NEEDS atleast another round of fixes (as me and quite a few others are now experiencing 10min+ start and quit times for the beta <desktop to menus and vice versa>. It looks like another memory leak problem, and quite a big one at that!- as in memory usage for HL2.exe rises to the amount of RAM you have at roughly 1MB per second, and it totally uses your page file awell (1090MB page file and 768MB RAM in my case ))

I would expect valve to take a little while longer since the've got another month and a half before release....
 
Damn it....my skill of picking up Simpsons references is slowly waning.

I used to be so good at it as well.
 
im with elephant. this week will come and go without a peep from valve as per ususal. delayed.
 
I'm not leaning either way. It might be, it might not be. I'm not raising my hopes - nor been too cynical for that matter. We'll just have to play the waiting game for a short while, and see what happens. If it's delayed slightly, so what? People can complain all they want, but it's Valve's game, and they can take as long as they please to finish it.

If it isn't delayed, however... Well, let's hope Vivendi is in a good mood, and bustles it on through.
 
I don't expect we'll here anything, but I'm really hoping that they'll tell us something positive tomorrow :-D

"Hey guys, we sent the RC to Vivendi for consideration"?

I doubt well her anything even if they send it today.

they update css weekly? i thought the updates were random
 
It'd be ****ing sick of them if the game was on store shelves in two weeks, and they didn't bother to announce it at all. And I'd love them for that.
 
Yes, they're random and if one is released this week it totally blows apart our speculation that Valve may actually meet the public deadline to deliver the RC today.

So i'm just looking at the current lack of CS:S update as a good sign.

i'm with the, them not giving us any info but maybe a screen or bink or some other crap they think will satisfy us with their lack of information, crowd...
 
Well unless fixed(but not written in the changelog) there are stil bugs in CS: Source. Bugs they are well aware of.

But then again they could neglect them for release since it's gameplay bugs, and all questions regarding those bugs have been ignored.

in Australia today it is 5.30 on the 15th and im thinking that the RC isnt going to make it.....i forgot about the time zones

wats the time in the us?
 
its about 12:30am PST here, just turned wednesday for west coast

Eh, not really. Most of them have been release estimates, and made by others than Valve.

Heh, just turned 7pm here iamaelephant. Someone should've altered the topic name so it said 'RC On the 15th, US Time' or something, and save us all of this unconcious confusion. :p
 
Yeah, good old NZ time 20 hours ahead :\

Sucks for things likesteam releases, cos you go "oh yay, it's the xx tomorrow" but you have to wait, cos you keep forgetting and it hurts... it really hurts :(((
