Ok guys, i might be dumb at this question. I dont no how i dont no but what exactly is the release candidate (RC)

It's the code which is submitted to Vivendi for them to approve (or not) before the game's allowed to go gold, and be produced en mass for distribution.

I do hope we hear something, even though it won't really change much. The gesture would prove symbolic and put a lot of fears to rest over the faint prospect of another huge delay I feel.

Heh, not a dumb question at all. I myself didn't know 'til recently.

And since I'm actually getting a bit tired, I'll give you the quick version. The release canidate is what precludes the gold version - the developer send it to the publisher, with the hopes the publisher will deem it good enough to go gold, at which point it can be manufactured. Pretty much, it's a final version of the game, that Vivendi need to approve so it can go gold. If Vivendi don't like it (too many bugs, whatever), it'll be sent back and Valve will have to fix the problems, then send off another release canidate. Hopefully that's confused you to a good degree, and my work here is done.

How many time is spected between valve sending de RC to vivendi and the gold stage? yes, it depends wether the first RC gone gold or not, but I think Valve wants to send a extremely polished RC1 like Halflife 1 (we know HL1 RC1=gold), so we are talking about days or weeks? anyone knows how many time usually expend vivendi testing games until gone gold?

nobody knows the time period u are asking about...i guess it all depends on how happy Valve and VU are with what they have.

48 hours!? that's a really short amount of time!

How is possible to test a game like halflife in just 48 hours? seems like the tests done in publishers are not very deep and demanding... well, vivendi is not sierra, perhaps they expend more time in testing, who knows
