Not necessarily. As we've already said, if one of the owners of said accounts give all the files in the RDKF beta.gcf (which does contain the whole game and the .exe) to Emporio then the game is easily pirated.

The most "challenging" part of Emporio's job is getting the files to work without Steam, which probably wasn't even done by them originally anyway.

Like I said, trying to close off that last 10% is nigh-on impossible. Without wanting to get into a big piracy discussion here, Emporio's releases are only of interest or appeal to those people that either had no intention of buying the game anyway, or people that have already had their Steam accounts banned. In other words, these aren't casual pirates - they're not Joe Average. It's really not worth the expense to try and hunt these people down for all the financial harm that they're ultimately doing.

or net cafe's that have 10 + pc's in a network with a wide array of cracked games. valve and other game developers are probably loosing quite a lot of money to places like that and ive been to quite a few where people are open about the fact that they dont have the licenses for the games they offer. it isnt just on an individual basis.
hiding small bits of verification code in each persons copy would be a sound solution just to track which reviewer it came from.

Probably no cracking at all, take codename: gordon for example. You can just copy/paste the files anywhere and it will run. Valve games dont because they are fully integrated with steam. RDKF was not planned to be released over steam from the beginning, so i would think that it's just a stand-alone download like c:g.

Nah, its probably encrypted because its a review. All they have to do is make a "Warden" (From WoW, that spyware thing) like program, and tell people that there is a program that is monitering where the game is being ran from. This Empiriom guy sounds like he just knows the right people.

If you don't have the money to buy a game, then you should be working or trying to get a reasonable job.
