And on that note... which computer programs do you guys hate the most? This involves anything except operating systems themselves.

One of my most hated is realplayer... this program is so damn annoying, that whenever there is a clip I need to watch using .ram, it keeps adding a startup to my msconfig so I have to remove that EVERY time I watch the damn thing.
 
I hate Real too... :x

Other stupid ones are AIM, Internet Explorer, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Acrobat Reader... some necessary; all suck....
 
I actaully did a free trial with real where you had to give them your creditcard number.......what a mistake that was....
 
Acrobat Reader.... god i hate that program so much... and Quicktime... damn you Apple!

One of life's lessons learnt there, I see. ;)

IMO: Acrobat 5 is ok, 6 is almost adware. QT is an excellent high-quality format.
 
i despise real player!! :angry: :angry:
a few years back i remember a few sites i used to visit required real player and while i hated them for that reason.. i kept going there for my hockey info fix :|

good thing now is, these sites have seen the light and now use QT/WMP :thumbs:
 
Yeah, I dunno what you've got against QT. It's great IMO.

Not so much Word, but it's the Office Assistants that I hate. "It looks like you're writing a document, would you like me to intervine and piss you off for the next 48 hours?"
 
yeah pretty much, although the bbc website uses it for everything, so i have to live with it. it's not bad if you stop it associating all your file types with it, and if you block all it's little incoming and outgoing signals with your firewall...stops those pesky popups.

You hate AIM, yet you use it. I hate Real. I have it installed in the abyss of my computer.
 
I hate Real Player, AIM, Microsoft Instant Messanger, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Quicktime, and Easy CD Creator.

Though I do love Microsoft Office 2003.
 
I don't understand the dumb asses who code their movies into QuickTime and Real. Why can't those asheads use DivX or XviD?

Other hated software: MS Paint, all CD Burner programs exept Nero and Alcohol 120%.

Why don't you like Acrobat Reader?
 
oh yeah, i dislike Steam sometimes...especially when it updates itself and robs me of my ability to surf the net!! grrr
 
Musicmatch actually works pretty well for ripping. Thats all I use it for though.
 
I hate Norton Antivirus. It never, EVER deletes infected files I always have to reboot in safe mode and do it manually because Norton's too much of a pu**y to delete anything.
 
I have a severe dislike for Winamp.

Foobar forever.
 
i really detest Windows Media Player, jsut the fact its on my system and i never use it.. i only play mp3's and the odd movie and Winamp (much faster and better mp3 organisation) does the job perfectly. WMP is awful.
Realplayer also, get a no vote. disgusting piece of software. I dont know why the BBC use it, i like listening to Radio 1 every so often but now i have to go and find a radio to turn on, i dont want to download Real Player.
i dont have many programs i dont like on my pc, i remove them and so i cant really think of any....
 
I hate Real also, and the free version of DAP damn adware! Too bad Im on a dail up and need a DL manager :|
 
Realplayer, ICQ, and any other program that tries to change my homepage.

Also, I've had shit luck with Norton.

Musicmatch pisses me off too. I wish I could get the musicmatch from 2002, That one actully worked well.
 
Norton detects viruses fine, but like someone else said it can never fix them and will never delete them. I had to delete notepad.exe because it had a virus and norton couldnt fix it...so notepad dont work for me anymore. SCREW NORTONS PUSSINESS! :flame:
 
I hate realplayer. As a matter of fact, last time i installed it, i was so disgusted, that i formatted my computer. No joking.

And for all those that hate Kazaa (rightfully so), be introduced the the splendiferousness that is Shareaza.

And for all of those that hate AIM and MSN, (and possibly Yahoo! Instant Messenger), be introduced the the splendiferousness that is GAIM.

Erm..... not really, because people tend to fix the problems they find more quickly, rather than let them be exploited :)

Yeah, those assistants get annoying. I also don't like how Word tends to start auto-formatting stuff. I remember on a geography project I did, I spent half the time trying to figure out how to get Excel and Word to do things properly and stop moving stuff around for me. There was also this annoying math project on matrices a couple of years ago (I hate matrices) and I stayed up all night trying to put in graphs and large brackets. It was harder to use Word than to do the actual assignment...

The two things I hate about Quicktime are the boring interface and the fact that you can't put the video in a full-screen mode (it's just a maximized window unless you pay $30). The codec itself is good. I just want an alternative player for it.
 
I hate everything about Realplayer, I can see y people dont have anything against QT, but I have, I hate it so much, That program will never ever set foot on my pc again ( I didnt see some hl2 vids just cuz their .mov ).

other programs I dislike are

irfanview ( have ppl ever heard of ACDsee)
PowerDVD (wich I have to use becuz winamp doesnt play dvds :/, and yes i know realplayer does DVD's...)
WS_FTP (flash fxp anyone)
WinZip (winrar4life)

and any program that isnt compatible with other program ( or desktop/window ) for standard file dragging (you know: left click file - drag - let go )
 
Quicktime, Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, Woard/Powerpoint etc... all horrible :(
 
I like K++. Shareaza hasn't given me a result for any search query I give it. But no k++ link tops 5kbps. PPth. I bet it's better when I'm back in my dorm in a few weeks!
 
the worst program ever was probably the original kazaa, the best program ever is powerpoint
