Good games are rare nowdays. So rare that I often find myself playing Counter Strike while I wait for the next game worthy of my time. These are some the games I played that I liked:

Half Life 1 & 2
Prince of Persia Trilogy (2003, 2004, 2005)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 & 3
GTA 3, Vice City & San Andreas

I don't like dark, satanic games like Doom or Quake (Quake III Arena is an exception though). I also don't like impossibly hard games that make you pull your hair out in frustration. I am more into adventure games, and I don't care if the game is a FPS or TPS, the game itself is what counts. Having said that, tell me what games you think I might like :)

Operation Flashpoint : Resistance

Sounds like you need an RPG....

Fable: the lost chapters is a good choice for an actionRPG

If it's strategy you're looking for....

Age of Empires III, Warhammer 40k, or the ever classic Starcraft

I was thinking about playing My Wild ARMs 4 game agian...just because I took some pills for my sickness, and now I'm dizzy as shit.

You don't want anything impossibly difficult? Hmm... and I was gonna recommend Far Cry...

Max Payne 1 / 2

Great games...only weakness is the 2nd one is a bit on the short side.

Yeah, but the many mods make up for it. I've played through Max Payne 2 about 16 times.

Far Cry, Deus Ex, Max Payne 1 & 2. I will check those out. Is Halo worth playing?

Halo is worth it only to see how a console shooter is supposed to work, but don't bother with Halo 2

Wait, since there isn't a PC version of Halo or Halo 2, I'll just forget about those.

Max Payne looks too dark. I believe the sequel is even advertised as a "film noir crime story". So no Max Payne for me. Same goes for Deux Ex, which takes place only at night.

Far Cry looks more promising, although I heard the game was plagued with bugs and glitches. I am not sure I will like it.

BTW: I played Star Wars: Battlefront II the other day and it sucked big time, so nothing like that either.

there is a pc version of Halo. very bad imo. what about battlefield 42 or battlefield 2. fun multi. i've stopped b/c it's too addictive and i can't spare the time for med school.

I suggest The Longest Journey. It might be my favorite PC game ever.

How about Commandos 2, a great tactical game. Or perhaps Mafia by Illusion Softworks, another goodie.

You say you are into adventure games, here's a real dimond in the rough: Beyond good and evil. It's a brilliant game and certainly a must play for adventure buffs such as yourself.

Let me clarify a few things for you...

Halo 1 has PC version but personally I hated the single player. It has two saving graces, the plot isn't half bad and the vehicles are awesome. However, it still doesn't make up for the repetition of levels, you honestly see the same 'room' for 6-8 times in a row at times...god that bore the !@#$ out of me.

I can't speak for Deus Ex (I barely got into it) but Max Payne 1 / 2 is seriously one of the most polished games available, not just in glitches / bugs, but the overall story, gameplay, entertainment, etc. It's one of the few franchises that's worthy of a movie adaptation. I don't see why a game being 'dark' is a bad thing, if anything having dark gritty games are a huge plus and there should be more of it. Regardless, you're honestly missing out on one of the best game franchises ... you should at least give it a shot. Link

As long as you patch Far Cry, you won't encounter many bugs. The gameplay is awesome at first but it get's dull about mid-way through and after a certain point (introduction of new 'targets') the gameplay goes drastically downhill. The graphics are stunning, the lush green to me makes everything more impressive than dull grey / brown / whatever monotone colors. The game's not bad, (the demo blew me away) but it's not exactly must-have either.

OK. I don't know where you heard that Far Cry had glitches, but it's incorrect. Far Cry, even before the numerous patches, was pretty much glitchless for me. And it's amazing. One of my favorite games of all time. GET IT.

And I actually enjoyed Halo PC. The lack of co-op was a huge disappointment, but you can probably find it for 15 bucks in a bargain bin at this point, so you might as well get it.

If you want an old-school style shooter with amazing graphics, get Painkiller. It made the Doom-lover in me weep with joy.

When you say "very bad" version of Halo, do you mean as compared to the xbox version? If that's what you mean, how is the xbox version better?

I played the demo of Max Payne 2 and I didn't like that game. Although I must say the Havok engine with the ragdoll physics was pretty cool :) I'll have to check out Beyond Good & Evil.

HOSTILE WATERS! lol

The oldie Prince of Persia's own those one's. Get some freeware oldie's, most new games suck ass. If you want a new one get Mafia because it owns ya cats Mum. You must get the PC version though because the console one's are crap apparently.

No it's not! :frown:

Starcraft. Best ****ing game before HL2.

I'm not active gamer but I can recomend you some good games:

- All Half-Lifes
- Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (if you have PS2)
- Tron 2.0
- or games from Czech Republic mentoined before - Operation Flashpoint and Mafia

Starcraft and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It can be old, right?

I played the first level of Max Payne 2 on the Xbox, after 20 cutsceens, loading times and comic strips of course. By then I was already sick of it.

I concur.

Is Zelda only available for the Nintendo 64?

Knights of the old republic 1 and 2.

I played the second one and I didn't like it. I am not a big fan of Star Wars games, except for Rogue Squadron and Episode I: Racer.

Bah you're shooting down all the great games :| I played Max Payne 2 on the PC and the load times weren't that bad. The comic / film noir style was done on purpose, to immerse you over the average / generic games. I mean that game is heads and shoulders above 95% of the current games simply because the plots / dialogues / style are very very well written, the gameplay isn't shabby either, infact it's damn good.

Zelda is N64 only, unless you use emulation...

KoTR series is also good, although personally I found both games waaaay too easy, I mean with a decent setup your characters just mow down the enemies themselves.

warcraft 3 is good, farcry, max payne 2, deus ex 1, ect

Call of Duty and United Offensive are damn good WW2 FPSes... Definitely wouldn't want to miss out on them.

Savage - Battle for Newerth is a solid multiplayer-only RTSS(Real-Time-Strategy Shooter), It's dying... but there's plenty of nearly-always-full 64player servers.

Unreal Tournament 2004, fast-paced action. Vehicular or not.

One mention of Psychonauts only? Are you people CRAZY?

Video games sucks, really....

And then people wonder why I don't own any of the newer consoles.... I guess I'll just have to stick with a basketball or soccer game. That might keep me busy for a while. Or perhaps a racing game. Need for Speed, whatever the latest incarnation is called.
