Well, I'm pretty bored of my collection. I'd like some new and fresh music! :)

I shall obtain all tunes possible from iTunes :D

So, what do you recommend?

Bands/Artists I like:

Death Cab For Cutie
Rocket From The Crypt
Beck
Goldie Lookin' Chain
Half Man Half Biscuit
The Ordinary Boys
The Music
Catch 22
Toasters
Rage Against The Machine

(I may not have heard all the songs by these bands, so feel free to recommend some barnstormers :E )

you say you like death cab?
then you'll probably like "Postal Service"
(postal service was a side project done by the lead singer of death cab for cutie)

you say you like rage?
then you might also like "Dead Kennedys"

Check out Audioslave. They were formed after the lead singer of Rage left the group.

If you like Rage Against the Machine you'll probably like System of a Down.

Been there, I don't like them, I like the edge of Rage too much

And Postal Service.. I love DCFC's lead vocalist's voice.. I'll check 'em, same for the Dead Kennedys :)

I hate System of a Down with a Passion.. they.. are.. boring, except for Jet Pilot..

dude, audioslave is nothing at all remotely like rage against the machine, i wouldn't suggest listening to audioslave if your a rage fan b/c the bands are completely different lyrically and musically,

I tend to keep an ear out on the radio/net/music channel for music that might peak my interest, but in most respects I'm pretty lucky to be surrounded by alot of people with some really funky tastes in this department. Dad has put me onto many great bands, and he likes most of the new shit I bring home (he's constantly hammering my CD collection). He also has some weird muso mates who bring all kinds of psychadelic tunes to the hizzle... but actually despite having lots of retro influence most of my favourite bands are fairly new.

Anyway, this site was suggested on another thread, and is pretty good for finding new bands/artists from your current tastes. Give it a try, as I really don't have any good suggestions to your particular tastes :p

Being a fan, I can agree with that to an extent. Jet Pilot is hard, and I love it cause I can't follow the drumline what-so-fooking-ever :D Alot of their first album is more experimental like that, try the song War, it's mah fave.

Yeah, Audioslave are alot more like Soundgarden than Rage, probably due to Corny Chris bein front man and probably the main writing talent behind it. Soundarden are alot more hard rock though, good but pretty generic... a bit like Pearl Jam.

Try the Mars Volta, I love their album Deloused... with a flaming passion that may only be extinguished with more Mars Volta. And Mars is red, like fire, which just goes to show you can never be too careful around hermits.

Badger are you a fan of hardcore punk, as in nothing you'd find on tv or the radio just in clubs and old cheap cds?

****ING BUY IT DICKMUNCH :D:D:D

It's a brilliant album, so experimental and ****ing out of it, and reeeeeally jammy. I mean that like they jam alot. It's only 10 tracks long and still fills up just over an hour :) They get halfway through a song and it goes into a trancey bit and you'll be like WTF it was just getting good but after a while you'll be cool and laxing to it and then BANG and it hits you in the face with the sledgehammer of musical awesomeness and you're like "this is musically awesome".

Idunno, I just love it. And it's almost time to wake up. And I haven't been to sleep.

Edit - Jesus ****ing pringle salad I can't stop this ****ing Boxcar Racer sample track from that musicplasma site to stop... ARGH... oh wait, I can just mute it.

Or take the headphones off

yes modest mouse, they do kick ass.

Rocket from the crypt tracks if you havent got them: Crack party, Im not invisible, Tarzan, Misbeaten, don't darlene, i drink blood, Hot heart.

According to www.musicplasma.com , searching for rocket from the crypt finds simular bands: rye coalition (dont even go there, they suck), Pretty girls make graves (great band imo but might not be your sorta thing), I cant remember what else I searched for since its musicplasma is buggered up at the moment for some reason but I can distinctly remember these two.

Have all them :)

I prefer the more ska-ie stuff of RTFC tbh ben :p

"I think I need a new heart" - Magnetic Fields

Since you have some weird/eclectic stuff on there I'd recommend:
Gomez
The Flaming Lips
Modest Mouse
Bob Dylan

Try the soundtrack of NEED FOR SPEED Underground

Muse album
holy shit absolution is ****ing god.

so many good bands, it's hard to recommend them all.

Jets to Brazil - ALL their CDs ROCK!
Hot Rod Circuit - same as jets
Elliott Smith - I know he was mentioned, but I'll second the suggestion
The Stills - Slightly depressing, but still REALLY good.
The Anniversary - "Designing a Nervous Breakdown" if you want something more poppy, but I personally prefer "Your Majesty"

At The Drive In - One Armed Scissor

Oh yeah, ATDI contain one (1) singer and one (1) guitarist from the aforementioned band - the Mars Volta. I haven't actually heard much of their stuff cause I've been obsessing over tMV, but One Armed Scissor is a ****ing cool track :)

No one mentioned Incubus, but you've prolly already heard them. If you just heard what's played on the radio/telly try their first album and some shit on their latest. Get the song Sick Sad Little World, it's pretty sweet. And yeah, Muse, but you're english so you know them.

ATDI split a little while ago... Cedric and Omar went to the Mars Volta, and the other two formed Sparta. just FYI

You have not lived until you have sat down and placed Dark side of the Moon by Pink Floyd (its a CD btw) in your player, and just relaxed, it is the BEST CD EVER.

afi - Silver and Cold

DJ Tiesto - Flight 643

It's something different.

Thats quite possible, but I'd assume almost everybody has heard that by now.

Sonic Youth - Candle
Sonic Youth - Diamond Sea
Sonic Youth - Purr
King Crimson - Epitaph
King Crimson - Court of the Crimson King
Jimi Hendrix - Bold As Love(end is amazing)
Jimi Hendrix - Burning Of The Midnight Lamp
Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless(album not a song)

Kind of a random list of cool stuff, you might also want to check out the bands the Pixies and Modest Mouse("Lonesome Crowded West" and "The Moon and Antarctica")

they might be giants, eh badger? eh. heh. heh.

you know, I do lovely acapella, badger, you should listen to me sometime.
