Red Alert 3

Well, in short, the entire game is about having fun.

I guess a lot of it stems from the fact that it is an RTS and it uses live action and whatnot so it doesn't have to worry about absurd voice acting and stuff. But a ridiculous sense of fun just permeates pretty much the entire thing, in the silly things the conscripts say to the gung-ho all-or-nothing nature of the American President to how seriously the Japanese take themselves. It's a game that recognizes that is it is a game and just goes all out to make everything as fun to play and hilarious as possible.

Cutscenes are hilariously B-Grade and all the actors know it. Everybody overacts to the hilt, especially Tim Curry as Premiere Cherdenko, and the game is so much better because of it.

It's basically just the epitome of B-grade sheer fun.

By the middle of the Allied campaign, I was bored to tears and quit playing it. :|

Might resume playing at a later date.

The last Allied mission is made for me by Tim Curry's frienzied, gloating, hilariously B-Grade expression as he reveals his master grand plan.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT

"I am going to escape into the one place UNTOUCHED by Capitalism...! ...SPACE!1!11!1!!!"

I was LMFAO when i was playing that mission.

You mention nothing of gameplay.

The gameplay is what ruins it for me....it's bland as hell.

It's typical RTS, polished to a shiny shiny edge. But it's still typical RTS.

Intense micro needed.

Intense micro needed.

This is a common misconception. I don't beat people because I have better micro I beat people because I use common sense. Scout your opponents, plan your attacks to counter theirs and strike at the right time.

Too many people leave themselves wide open by not scouting.

Intense micro + common sense needed.

Surely that common sense right there is part of micro right?

Maybe I just misunderstand micro.

Micro usually equates to a high number of actions per minute. I'm slow at RTS and still don't have any problems winning.

I've only really seen one guy micro, he was on my team in a 2v2 and wow did he kick ass, was like playing with a Brutal computer.

It's just about learning the hot keys I guess, the few seconds at the start where you build your base is always important to slam down the buildings as quickly as possible.

Micro is most important for Japan, probably least important for Soviets.

Getting a working economy is the Soviet's big hassle.
