Did anyone else find this game one of the best of its time?
The story felt really realistic and fit the whole theme, police brutality, corrupt business etc. It had a good selection of guns and had the best atmospheric music.

I'd play it again, however the CD's have been chewed by my brother when he was in toddler mode ;(

I still have the CDs around here somewhere...

Great game; it's surprising other games haven't borrowed the idea of GeoMod yet.

your brother chewed.....your cds? he must have a bite of steel to do that kind of damage.

OP, kill him.

I've only experienced RF2 on the ps2, which was pretty meh. How is the original?

Original is way better, imo.

I f*cking love Geomod.

I remember well the game called "Red Faction"

Red Faction is a first-person shooter video game that was released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2, Microsoft Windows, and Macintosh by THQ and Volition. A version for the Nokia N-Gage was developed by Monkeystone Games. And the game was re-developed as a top-down shooter for the mobile phone version.

Red Faction takes place on Mars in the 22nd century. The player controls a miner named Parker who helps lead a rebellion against the Ultor Corporation. The premiere feature of the game is its "Geo-Mod" technology, short for "geometry modification", which provided destructible environments, allowing the player to destroy certain sections of the scenery in the game. For example, instead of opening a door, a player could blast through the rock surrounding the door.

Red Faction 1 was a damn good game. Really underrated.

Red Faction 2 was smoldering piece of shit.

I played the HELL out of Red Faction for PS2, Geomod was the best thing since sliced bread. It's hard to believe that it's STILL the precedent for terrain deformation after 6+ years. The game also oozed atmosphere - I'd love to see a properly done sequel (I chose to ignore RF2).

Red Faction 1 is a pretty good game. It's not great, but it's good. I think you'll find that it's both overrated and underrated, depending on where you're looking. It's definitely a fun ride, with an entertaining story and some pretty exciting set pieces, but it reeks of lack of polish in some areas and can get ****ing tedious at times (Hello there Stealth sections; have we met?).

Red Faction 2, on the other hand, is arguably one of the worst games you could possibly play. I've had plenty of fun with the multiplayer in the past, but the singleplayer really does grind you down with it's constant stream of shitty shit shit. The story is horrendously bad, which includes all of the characters (a total waste of Lance Henriksen), and the gameplay is just...wow. Horrible. Putrid sequel that killed the series.

*reinstalls Red Faction*

Atleast it tries to mix it up and do something different *glares at Halo*

Yeah I liked Red Faction 1, never played 2 and I probably won't.

Best feature of Red Faction 1 (besides geomode) puting a demo charge on a guard's head and watching him run franticaly waving his arms like mad. LOL good times.

Just youtube'd Geomod. When was this game made?

Red Faction kicked so much ass; loved the destructible environments, the weapons, the vehicles, and my favorite, the rail-gun. Singleplayer was most certainly very cool, but if you ever tried the multiplayer, that seriously kicked some ass. Loved begin able to blast holes in various places to get places you weren't supposed to go, hitting people with the railgun from across the map, the diversity in the weapons, there was a lot going on.

Red faction 2 sucked in every way. Tried to play it on 3 very seperate occasions, but neve madei t far before getting bored to death.

I installed it a little while ago to get some reference for an idea I had for class...

brb playing red faction

must....resist.....temptation....to....find....this.....game.....on......e-bay......ah resisted! Didn't think I would then!

Imagine a crowd of Ultor militia running down the corridor shouting "Die miner!" and firing at you. Imagine them scatter when you whip out an assault rifle and when they cover, blowing their cover away with a well placed rocket.

You know you want it, Evo... you know it...

After Christmas....monies be too tight at the moment

I played the starting of RF2, robots coming out of a ship, some sort of outpost. Stop playing after that :/
And rofl at technochunk, it was on the second cd or something.

Red Faction was so much fun, both singleplayer and multiplayer with my brother. BTW, Worms and Earthworm Jim 2 had geomod first :p

i remember the pre-release hype being mega for red faction because of the geomod engine, plus magazines were drawing parallels to it kicking half-life's ass in terms of awesomeness, so i was so ...SO excited for this game

i got it, remember thinking....oh dear, overhyped to shit. geomod wasn't quite what they promised and it didn't come close to half-life, so i was pretty dissapointed at the time

fast forward a bit when i don't have my head up my ass and i remember reinstalling it and enjoying it quite a bit. its nothing dazzling but its a genuine bit of fun. really enjoyed it

if i had it here with me, i'd give it another do but i don't. WOH IS ME
