Release Date Sooner Than Anticipated

On a part of Gamespot under the community beta part, it lists the most wanted games, the most tracked, the most owned, and the most currently played. When half-life 2 shows up on the lists, the date reads 2004-08-01. Check it out on the bottom of this page: http://forums.gamespot.com/gamespot/index.php
Even though this is a beta page the release dates on GTA san andreas or Halo 2 are still @ thier predicted dates that were decided around E3.
 
Yeah, I've read 1st Sept. on other places too...that sucks.
 
The 8th month is August, not September.
 
September 1 and 3 are the most reasonable dates of release.Sometime august is when the game reaches VU, and then they can mass produce and ship by the start of september.
 
I think it will be released on the 26th of august. I'm basing this on my birthday.

Naaaa.... Everbody would enjoy if it was release on MY b-day, but I doubt that is going to happen....

I sure hope it doesn't come in my birthday, the 13:th of April.

I wonder if Hl2 is even going to be worth the wait, sure the story is going to be great, but technically its lagging.

great gfx - farcry (a tiny bit plasticy, but they are the best I have ever seen)
free-flow, realistic physics and ragdolls - Psi Ops (absolutely brilliant, and unfortunately uses the game mechanic valve were planning on using - anything is manipulateable)

the things Im looking forward to are, the character interactions and facial animations, however this is simply bell and whistle addons its not a feature that I consider 'make-or-break".
Im praying the netcode is decent (Im sure it will be), but honestly hearing the august/september estimate gave me that deflated "oh" feeling.

of course I wasnt stupidly optimistic and put trust into Valve releasing it earlier than a year after they delayed the game. Im not that niave.
but still I had a whimper of hope for something sooner.

anywhoo, hopefuly something good comes out in the meantime... because currently its pure gaming hell in terms of finding a decent game to play.

I wish Crytek would move their asses and release the sdk.. or even the coop patch so I can play through farcry for the 25th time... but with my friends next time.
 
dude my birthdays on sept. 29... the day before HL2 was suppose to come out. ya know how pissed i was....

Who said they weren't using havok any more?

And the only good thing is the physics, the game sucks, HL2 has all the good things from those games rolled into one, so you can't take 13 different games to fill every hole in HL2 to make it look bad.

Yea!

HALF-LIFE 2 will be released along another VALVE game called "return of the fat hampster 15" in 2050.

Who said they weren't using havok any more?

And the only good thing is the physics, the game sucks, HL2 has all the good things from those games rolled into one, so you can't take 13 different games to fill every hole in HL2 to make it look bad.

I didnt say they werent using havok, I was simply saying that PSI-OPS has the "manipulate anything" gameplay, but instead of a manipulator you use your mind.

and my intention was not to make HL2 look bad by listing 13 different games with similar features (In fact I only listed 2), instead it was to point out that features that HL2 has are becoming common place.

thats not a bad thing, it just detracts from that new engine smell :)
Yes Hl2 will be the big package, rolling all the good features into one game, which is why I am still here after all, and why Im such a huge HL fan.
but as I said, the features are no longer "new" like they were last year.
 
Well, with Doom3 coming on the 3rd of august, HL2 better release before or close to that, or it'll lose the 'I just bought a shiny new video card, and I wanna try it out' crowd.
 
speakin of shiny video cards, anybody heard the latest on PCI Express Vcards and -capable motherboards?
 
i think half-life 2 will have to be out before doom 3 which means late july, early august release date, septmeber looks way out of place, cuz if it was september then doom 3 would get a head start, and make hl2 sale go down
