I just got it, and I'd like to say that it's one of the best games I've ever played. It's straight-up unbelievable. I have 16 hours on the timer (which is incredible, as I bought it yesterday) and I'm not even done with the first disk. The style of gameplay is unique and addictive, the graphics are some of the best I've seen on console yet, and it's goretastic to boot (seriously- the enemies' heads explode like melons after a couple hits). I'd just like to recommend it to everyone who has a Gamecube and is good with M-rated games (which should be all of you, as this is a Half-Life 2 website). For those of you who don't have one... just throw down the money for it and the game. It's that good.

Cool thanks

I sold my Game cube becuase I wasn't having any fun with any of the games, and I read RE 4 was being cancelled!

I'm glad it came out, I'll wait and see what everyone says about the new Zelda game.

If it's is good as I hope, I'll get the GC again, Zelda and RE4, by that time I can pick up RE4 used for real cheap.

After you beat it, let us know how the replay is

Yeah this game rules. I beat it a while ago (took me 25 hours because I explored EVERYTHING) but have recently started again to unlock more costumes and weapons.

Blashpemy!

Anyway, RE4 is awsome. I'm in chapter 4-3 now, 12 hours in and not even on the second disc.

I'm not a fan of the controls (I would of like to be able to side step and move when aiming) or the thirdperson camera, but the Chicgo Typewriter is nice.

I kept think as I played the game "This would be better in source with physics and ragdoll"

I was enjoying it a lot until (chapter 2-3 I believe)
I got up to the part where you fight off wave after wave of Ganado at the house with Luis. I got past it, but at the cost of lots of ammo and items, so at the next part where you can either go left or right, I tried both paths, but couldn't beat any in the condition I was in.
Eventually I decided that it was best to just start over, making multiple saves at certain points to prevent that from happening again.

Cannot wait till' its released on Xbox. Or PS2. Don't care which. Ok i do, xbox. :D

I wasn't aware it was going to get released on Xbox but I did hear they had to tone down the graphics to port it to the PS2.

Well its in the official xbox magazine Uk list...so i assumed so. Cant remember an official announcement. Heres tohoping

I wasn't saying it wasn't going to be, I just hadn't heard anything about it.

I'm on my 4th way through Resident Evil 4 now :)

The game really heats up on pro mode.

Res 4 is the best game i've played in years! Simply stunning.

I wasn't saying you did, just stating where i got the info....:D

What exactly is the Chicago Typewriter? I hear all about it, but I don't know what it is. (put your answer in spoiler mode so people who want to find out themselves can)

Hello.

i got RE4 a few days ago, and yes, it is a great game. so far I have gotten the infinite rocket launcher and chicago typewriter

the chicago typewriter is a tommy gun with 0.10 firespeed and 10 power, which means you do 100 damage every second. amazing, huh?

so far I am trying to beat mercenaries, I have gotten 5 stars on every level with 4 characters (leon, ada, wesker, and krauser). i'm currently doing hunk atm.

can't wait to get the handcannon

Well I have yet to beat the game. There just something about having my movement handicapped that turns me off to a game. Makes me feel the DevT couldn't think of a better way to make the game hard other then making you stand still in combat. But I have never been a big fan of the RE games. That and I still can't get it out of my brothers hands.

As for getting the typewriter, first you have to get a high score on one of the merc missions, Ada's I believe. Then it will be in every shop on your second run thourgh. I believe each merc mission gives you something nice like one of the handgun shooting thourgh 4 or 5 zombies and what not. You can get this info at many Walkthourgh/Cheat sites.

Actully, you get the typewriter for 1 million pestes by beating Assigment Ada (which is given when you beat the game), you get the handcannon after you get a 5 star ranking on every character on ever 4 levels. it's a .50 calibar magnum, you have to spend 780,000 monies to upgrade it to it's fullest. at first, it's free. pretty strong, holds 3 bullets. when you max it out, and get it's exclusive, it has 99 power and infinite ammo. :P

Definately better :)

Just don't tell anyone here I said that. ssssssshhhhhhhhhh ;)

These are pretty bold statements:
The best game ever/The best console game ever/better than HL2

I am considering buying the game but I glaced through the pix of a strategy guide so I can get an idea of the graphics in the game and it seemed the characters off into the distance were kind of small, low rez, low color, crapy looking.
A huge contrast to the character you control. Just looked out of place. whatsup with that?

Play it for a while Virus. It's gorgeous.

Of course, it doesn't have the res/aa/af of recent pc titles. What it does have is great art direction and visual style.

I don't think it's the best console game ever either (it's certainly one of them though) Whether it's 'better' than HL2 is purely subjective - and doesn't really matter. Both are great titles that any gamer should experience.

RE4 -is- one of the best games ever made. Though it doesnt mean 'too' much, its the fourth highest rated game ever on gamerankings.com... That's just above Half-Life, there. >>

It's amazing. Like HL2, you cant even pause for a breather during those cutscenes. XD *Tries to remember every time he was viciously killed because he took a hand off the controller during a cinema for a drink or something.*

Ok I finally broke down and bought a gamecube, for this game. Im at the end I think, I just killed the midget dude salader or salazar I get the names mixed up. So far the game has been very good, Ive had to keep the system on for the past 2 days, because I didnt get a memory card. Ps nintendo and sony need to have some memory on there systems like xbox next time. (whens the last time you bought a memory card for your pc?)

I still liked RE2's story better. The style of the graphics, and story on this remind me more of devil may cry, then other re games. Although its still a great game, Im not complaining.

At any rate is RE 0 any good, and how outdated are the graphics compared to re 4. What are some other Gamecube games you guys could recomend. (Note: I hate kiddie games like mario party)

Hehe...you're not at the end yet, and still have a while to go.
Memory cards are still the status quo...trying to get by without one is just stupid. El cheapo ones can be picked up for a song.

Resident Evil remake is very good ....... different enough from the original to make it well worth a revisit (after no. 4 this is the best in the series, imo)

Res 0 is ok - not great, not bad.

I wasnt being stupid or cheap, I just thought i herd someone say that the cube let you use some internal memory like the xbox. I was wrong Ill get a memory card when I get a chance.

Btw playing games on a system without a memory card is not stupid. I dont have an xbox but my cusin has one I use, it has a 120gb hd installed (they got it from a site online). Never have to worry about memory cards, call it stupid if you want but I think its alot better.

I saw they redid mgs 1 for the cube too, I thought about going through that again for fun. But besides remakes are there any other good games on the cube that arent made for kiddies? How about metroid prime, didnt they recently release a sequal to that on gc?

Easy with the kiddies stuff ;)

Metroid Prime 1 & 2 are both excellent (and as mature a game as you'll find on any system)

F-Zero is a great racing title (if you're into super fast futuristic racers)

Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 are also some of my favourite - party games don't get much better than this.

Zelda Wind Waker is well worth checking out too - not as amazing as OoT, but still good. Don't let the cell shading put you off.

If you have friends with GBA's then Zelda 4 Swords is a must (one of the best games in years :))

Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2 are both great, as is Tales of Symphonia.

There's plenty of other good games worth getting too - you might consider them 'kiddy' tho :)

I was saying its dumb to try to work your way through a entire game (especially one thats about 20 hours long) without saving. Xbox's system is good since it has the onboard harddrive, but its the only current system with that feature since it raises the production costs by a large degree. Since the GC lacks such a harddrive, a memory card is as essential as a power cord for the thing.

yA I got a mem card for like 5 or 10 dollars generic

there is another rez evil game for GC its high quality, tho i never finished it, I'm wierd like that, I can have the greatest games, but I'll only finish the very best (HL2)

Anyway I don't remember the name but there is a fine ass girl on the front cover (Carla?)

Great quality graphics etc.

I didnt mean any disrespect towards those games, but any one with common sence should know there made for someone under 13yrs old. An adult should like to blow off zombies heads, destroy helicopters, etc, not jump on a donkeys heads, shoot turtle shells at your friends racer, or etc.

Also say what you want, but I would bet 90% of adults would prefer realistic graphics rather then cartoony anyday. I cant take a character seriously when he looks like he belongs on looney toons.

You'll find plenty of adults who love Nintendo games. Very, very few of their titles are geared towards the under 13's. Infact one of the reasons they're so popular is because ppl of all ages and both genders enjoy their games so much.

You'll also find that more often than not it's teenagers who criticise Nintendo for being 'kiddy', and are only into games that involve blowing shit up with pretty gfx. Luckily, adolescence doesn't last forever, and they grow out of it.

The reason there so popular? have you seen sales reports lately?

At any rate I just beat the game, I have got to say it was definately worth the $45, great story, great gameplay. I still dont know about the gamecube yet, even at a $100 I would like to a couple other good games for it. Also this is the only console that wont play dvds isnt it?

I just looked up one of the games you mentioned before, super monkey ball 2. How do you consider this an adult game?

A story about a carefree money named aiai, who has a gf named meemee. But all is in trouble when mean dr. BAD-BOON tries to break them up. Oh did I mention that aiai, and meme have a baby named baby. Also Dr. Bad-Boon has an assistant named Dr. Bad_boons asistant. lmao yea this game is not aimed at children whatsoever.

Because over the weekend I played 4 play Monkey Ball 2 with my best m8, my girlfriend, and my mum. The youngest person amoungst us is 26, the oldest 55. We all had a great time. This alone is proof enough. The fact that it can span genders and age gaps is also very impressive (how many games can do this??)

Forget the tacked on story mode - it's just Japanese crazyness, and has little/no bearing on the game whatsoever. If you'd actually played Monkey Ball you'd know what I was talking about - and almost certainly think it's a great game too.

Let's analyse Counter Strike. You're an army man, whose mission it is to shoot the bad guys. You see children all over the world doing this in playgrounds. Does blood make it adult orientated? of course not, far from it.

I think if you match up Nintendo's game sales to the number of systems sold, you'd be more than surprised.
I'm also willing to bet its close to being the most played system for those outside the teenage-boy demographic (discounting PC).

Speak for yourself. I'm 28. I'll take a fun, unique, original game with cartoony graphics over a cookie cutter, realistic looking knock off game that consoles like PS2 and Xbox pump out. Nintendo is original while the other crap consoles just churn out the same garbage over and over again with slightly nicer graphics each time.

Yes - Nintendo sell an obscene amount of games and hardware.
