It's black on white violence. The white guy is in the town trying to vacation and the black man wont stop trying to kill him, thus he is forced to defend himself against them.

I can not stand how they portray white people in this game, they show us as the minority and ab-normal. Notice the way the vast majority of people in the game act, then notice how this white guy doesn't act that way at all. It's racist and pisses me off.

He's also portrayed as solitary, which means he has some sort of social defect if nobody is willing to hang around him. Most likely ugly and stupid, which is an outrage. I can't believe they would do this to us white people, it's just absolutely absurd, and I'm writing them a letter.

Right, so RE5 looks incredible. I'm not totally on board with Chris looking like a body builder. Leon was more convincing in RE4. He was fit and athletic, just not 'roided out.

It would be way sweet if it came out for the Wii or PC one day. I hate next-gen consoles.

I guess I can see why some are calling it racist, a lot of Americans have a great deal of Xenophobia and fear of the unknown in regards to the 3'rd world, and especially impoverished Africa. Some might consider it cheap thrills to use an area of the world that is currently in a great deal of conflict and looked at as a generally scary place to be. (even without the zombies)

Sadly what comes to mind when one thinks of that continent is; diamond conflict, slavery, tribal warfare, genocide, Ebola, Malaria, starvation, poverty, AIDS, drugs, rape, brutality, child soldiers and just general anarchy. Some might see RE5 as being politically insensitive for building on these fears, when there is, of course, way more to the continent than what the press might have us believe.

Also, I apologize to the OP, I totally derailed here.

I don't actually believe the devs had racist intentions, I can just understand why people might be a bit disturbed by the setting. In fact I'll probably buy it and love it =].

Being disturbed by the setting isn't being racist. I wouldn't feel comfortable in many areas in Africa because, to put it bluntly, they're shit holes. Oddly enough, none of this springs to mind first when I think of the continent, though - it's always the animals. Now, zombified Rhinos - that would be cool

I always get stuck in them though Or get to the final boss with hardly any health left with 3 mins to wait till a rocket launcher gets dropped or whatever

if its like RE4 it will be impossible to get stuck

One thing that RE4 did poorly was its attempt to build a believable and cohesive world. It was always far too circumstantial, and that tugged at the atmosphere a bit from time to time. It happened in previous RE games too, and it's just sloppy the way they haven't corrected it yet.

I hope RE5 makes the fix.

This is problematic on so many levels, including the depiction of Black people as inhuman savages, the killing of Black people by a white man in military clothing, and the fact that this video game is marketed to children and young adults. Start them young fearing, hating, and destroying Black people.
