China are 3rd/2nd world country, most of the population lives in poverty.

it makes no diffrence, well actually it should. China should be saving the people from poverty instead of spending there time executing them.

US doesn't execute people constantly, its not like a show where everybody gathers around and watches people (who actually do deserve it like the DC Sniper) get executed (humanely i might add by lethal injection) every night, it rarely happens. most of the time people on Death Row stay there so long they die of old age, or get a life sentence which is why we are dealing with over crowded penetentaries.

obviously dont talk on subjects such as other countries if you haven't lived in that country.

they all make sence to me...

remember, America was established under the principals of freedom, so the flag respresents the country, thereby representing freedom. Meaning that those rules make sence.

Yeah, the US does have a steroetype as being incredibly patriotic, to the point where people automatically assume Americans have a superiority complex. Certainly this is true for some, but as a Canadian, I know that we have this problem too. And indeed, the problem exists everywhere.

As for burning the flag, any flag, I don't really care. It means nothing, you silly people, it's just a piece of cloth with a symbol. You can never destroy what it means, no matter how many you burn. Hanging upside down, doesn't seem to be all that terrible when you can still burn it.

As for the death penalty and powers of the queen (however that came to be included) yes, the US is the only 1st world country that practices capital punishment, and the world would say that the US should change, and the US would say that the world should shut up.

The Queen, being the head of state for Britain, and the British Commonwealth, does have many powers, but since the magna carta, they have been regulated by the law. In Canada, the head of state is not our Prime Minister, but actually the Queen represented by our Governor General. These, however, are completely ceremonial positions with no actual governing power. I believe this is how it is in all Commonwealth nations.
Flags should be respected, so far as they don't actually mean anything. The Bald Eagle has a special place in the US, but that didn't stop people from hunting them to near extinction for patriotic wall ornaments. DDT didn't help either. Good job, guys. Where was your protective sense of patriotism for this symbol? Whatever.

As for China, well, looky here, Mr. Communism is a industrial power house... jealous? See, they've taken to capitalism better than anyone else. Low wages, government incentives, massive workforce, low standards for working conditions. It's a capitalist's dream. Oh, and execution is more cost-effective, so there.

What don't like outsourcing? Can you blame them? They're business men! They don't give a damn about your mortgage or your new daughter. Money, money, money! That's the only flag they salute! Patriotism is only useful to them when it makes them money.

So you tell me? Do you salute an ideal, or a country? Because one deserves your loyalty, and the other... well, deserves an ideal.

Now, this post has turned into a angry rant, and I shall now take a valium, and go to bed. Thank you.

That was interesting.

Commonwealth nations... we're one of them. We kind of regard the queen with a sort of good-natured contempt, if that's possible. Sort of, "She's an okay old lady, but if she tries to tell us what to do we'll laugh"...

i was watching a new channel flippign thought the tv, and they were completely bashing this sales place because their american flags were dirty. and the guy was accusing them of supporting terrorism, because your not on our side cuz your flags are dirty. $5 goes to the person who guesses what station it was.

I simply stated that China are a 3rd/2nd world country, which is fact, it was simply a reply to someone else's post.

And what I posted about America, well I deduced that from the website I was give, which does make it appear as if the 'flag' is taken really seriously in America.

I didn't say 'All American's are blinded by patriotism' or ' I think American's should get real and see past their patritotic views' or anything of the sort.

I happen to know that most American's can see the difference between right and wrong. (sorry to sound patronizing, but I don't know how else to put it) and aren't always 'saluting' the flag.

I would say my personal view is that American's can some times seem a bit 'removed' and appear uncaring to what's happening in other parts of the world when it doesn't concern America. That's just my personal view.

And a lot of the times violent criminals get out of jail because of "good behavior", due to the liberalization of the American Prison system. Sometimes it seems like more people feel sorry for the criminal than the victim. I've seen broadcasts where people are protesting a man's death sentence and are calling the victim's family liars, justice system doesn't work, etc. It's pretty disgusting.

It's because you have the 5th Amendment, which doesn't really make any sense to me.

The 5th Amendment has nothing to do with our prison system degrading into a coddling rehab center. The American public is getting soft, and people are twisting the system to their own careless wants. I love my country, and what I want it to stand for, but I am at odds with many Americans. They are self-centered, un-grateful brats that want what they want. A loft of the public protesting the war had good intentions, but there were many in the the crowd that attacked, and maimed officers and civilians. Not to mention the millions of dollars of damage done to cities around the country. While this may not add up, it will soon. A lot of Americans have this nature that it's about them(I don't mean about other Americans, I mean about them individually), they think they're all that matters and their petty wants come first. This attitude has taken a serious toll on our Justice System. Like I saidm, these people who are causing all this damage are the same ones trying to get violent criminals out of jail. Prisons, other than the abundance of ass-rapings and violence, are better than country jail. In jail you get crappy food, no tv, no bed, mediocre showers, and sinks that duble as a toilet. Seriously. The sink is at the top and the toilet is at the bottom. IN Prisons they get food cars wehre family members can give them money to buy snacks, smokes, etc. They get cable tv, basketball, weight lifting areas, and other recreational activities. A man who stole from a store gets it worse than a man who raped and murdered three teenagers. This isn't the Amendment's fault, or the country's fault, it's the people's fault.
