Return To Mana has just had a media blow out featuring a plethora of updates.[br]Check out these mind blowing in-game shots of a map in alpha stage.[br]
[br]Head on over to the official site to check out some of the new concept art, which has also just been released for public eyes.

Damn! nice maps eh ? :), sorry for the crappy quality...damn news script said they where to big :x

I like it, but i don't like the trees.. Is that because it's in alpha stage?

heh, probably...lets just hope :)

I think it looks good. Somehow it reminds me of "Fable". Better gfx though.

lol,
those pics blew me away, finally something colorfull, couldn't believe my eyes :)
only gripe i have is, that map geometry seems a little blocky/low poly, but thats maybe cause its in alpha stage

That looks ****ing awesome!! Such a fairy tale feel, excellent work!

Looks great but i don't know if i'll like it in the end as the story/plot etc etc, doesn't really appeal 2 me but who knows, i try most mods neway.

I was impressed when i saw the small thumbnails on the front page, but the higher-res versions are far to detailed. With the way everything is modelled and presented the look should be a lot more cartoony, with simpler colours/textures instead of detailed textures.

piece of junk

very constructive quote there...

i think this looks very promising, some good work here as far as i can see. i am definately looking forward to trying this mod! :)

wow looks sweet I hope they manage to release it soon

One of the more high quality gfx mods it looks like so far, looks really nice.

wow is this gonna be a RPG?
looks really neet im really glad that MODS are making progress

Attempted on HL many times, lots of luck on source guys.

I think it looks great. The only thing that worries me is that this appears to be based on an existing property. I'd really hate to see such a promising mod get shut down because the developers infringed intellectual property rights.

it looks very cool whit that medieval atmosphere

Its the suppose to be the sequel to The Return of Mana, that was released on SNES and was an amazing game. Very much an RPG, but they will be incorporating the same idea from the SNES game where more then one person can play at once, so online as well to have cooperative gameplay. I'm personally very excited, I've played all 4 of the mana series games, (1 was for NES, 2 was for SNES, 3 was never released in Canada but you can find it as a ROM for an Emulator, and 4 was for the PS2) and all of them were very well done, hoping they do as good a job. And as far as I know they have contacted Squaresoft (i believe thats the company) to ask for copyright protection. Not 100% sure though.

Blue

I think they should play Worms 3D and get some ideas from that.

beautiful, I remember enjoying The Secret of Mana a lot. This map reminds me a bit of Zelda 64 and Rayman

finally some peopel thinking beyond first person shooters as mods, it is rather refreshing, I loved Secret of Mana for SNES, I hope they can do it right :)

Looks really sweet. Another MOD to keep track of and it will stand out since it's not a FPS.

Looks good, but unfortunately isnt this a mod based on another game, hence will get shutdown? Same with perfect dark mod, goldeneye mod, etc etc

Unless they get permission, which I have not seen happen often.

Return to Mana is based on the Seiken Densetsu Universe, called "Mana"

it's a fanbased direct sequel to Secret of Mana, with copyrights are owned by Square Enix Ltd.

As we will release the Total Conversion for free, we won't run into copyright infringements.
Square can send us a kind request of stopping the work, but we will continue because fanart isn't illegal :D

Please be right, but those companies have huge amounts of lawyer power behind them, so be prepared for some serious shoving.

The lawyers will have to show these guys were making money off it. So as long as they don't accept donations, have ad banners or simply charge for the game they should be good. People have made matrix and that cartoon with the spiky haired people.... whatever, you get the point. :)

In that case, here's something that I wish would make it into this mod.
In the original Secret of Mana for the SNES (with the boy and two girls) each weapon could be leveled up to 8 levels and for each level there would be one cool super attack if you held the attack button long enough. I was a kid when I played the game, but I still enjoyed killing monsters with my Level 8 sword attack :)
