Ritual meat enters EU food supply

OH NO THE COW IS IN PAIN FOR ALL OF 20 SECONDS. WHATEVER WILL WE DO? I'M NEVER GOING TO EAT MEAT AGAIN.

This is a reality for a lot of people. Your sarcasm is invalid.

Whether or not an animal suffers in death has nothing to do with my personal opinion. So again, what gives them the right, and in what way is it "the same" as me criticizing them for it or wanting them to change their practices?

Then the argument is about the importance of human rights versus animal rights. Basically, I'm saying that in your opinion, animals, with no thoughts or choice in the matter, born and bred to die, have greater rights than someone simply trying to follow their religion, which they have every right to do.

In my opinion, animal rights are trumped by the human right to freedom of religion.

I knew that when I wrote it, and you're saving animal lives every day. I once considered going vegetarian, but meat is just too tasty, and too many of my relatives are farmers. I'd be insulting them if I didn't eat meat.

That's a really odd opinion, but to each their own I suppose.

I live on a f*cking farm, believe me when I say my vegetarianism isn't destroying our livelihood. Next time you're in a supermarket try a vegetarian alternative to meat, such as schnitzel. I've only been vegetarian for just over 2 months and I can't even tell the difference between it and a real chicken schnitzel. Or don't. Again, to each their own.

If your relatives would be insulted that you don't eat meat, tell them to grow the **** up.

Okay.

That's ****ing stupid.

What an enlightening and well reasoned argument.

I know that one person abstaining from meat won't affect much, but it's all economics, if enough people do it, then it will have an impact.

If you think a cow cares whether it's conscious or not while being killed, grow the **** up. - See I can do it too.

What does that have to do with what I said? If your family members would bitch and moan and actually be insulted about you not eating meat, tell them to grow the **** up. And you for that matter, why would you subject yourself to the demands of others. They're going to be insulted so you just do it anyway? Why not just do it because you love the taste of meat, not because you're so influenced by silly things.

Well, it was more along the lines of tasty meat = moral weight of slaughter, this leads to ambiguity and anxiety.

However tasty meat + family profit ? moral weight.

I think I've figured out why your posts in this thread have been so utterly bizarre - you don't actually realise that cows are living creatures with nervous systems and spinal columns and consciousness and social awareness!
