Rosie O'Donnel comment

I mean, who doesn't love me already?

(Note: if you don't love me already, jesus says you are going to hell.)

well to be fair I doubt the ones who've cut out their brains love you ..probably cuz they're too busy drooling all over themselves

Hey, it's not my fault the Jesus tells you to cut out whatever part of your body causes you to sin (AKA your brain).

Loving me is the first step to avoiding this terrible fate!

Of course, some people would call cutting your brain out for jesus nothing more than a metaphor for the christian faith.
This is one of the few times I'm almost inclined to agree with biblical "interpretations".

rats and here I thought there was going to be a sudden peak in elective surgery ..or at least a spike in sales of coathangers :E

/me sells medical/coathanger stock

Hey, I said almost inclined. Cutting out your brain is still mandatory.

Of course, he is probably specifically refering to just the parts that govern logical thought and free will.

He is Jesus, after all. He'd be like Doogie Howser and Macguyver combined.

hmmm give him a bic pen and a lemon wedge and he'll perform a labotomy lickety split ..it's a festivus MIRACLE!

Latest reaction - From the Palestinians, saying the Pope is a Jew -

A Palestinian protester holds an unflattering picture showing Pope Benedict XVI during a demonstration against his recent speech about Islam, following prayers in front of the Dome of the Rock mosque in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem’s Old City, Friday, Sept. 22, 2006. Thousands of Muslim worshippers staged anti-pope marches in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza on Friday, waving green Hamas banners and denouncing the pontiff as a coward. The Arabic writing on the poster reads, ‘There are many lies that go out of their mouths. ‘ (AP Photo/Muhammed Muheisen)

Here's the image - http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/....jpg?x=263&y=345&sig=tEGLkYQlwLud.PXvKcn3fw--

Seriously... They made a photo depicting him as a Jew, with the Star of David and crap like that. Just watch it. I wanna know where they get all those propaganda flags, posters, whatever made. It would be interesting.

Digging for what? The point I'm trying to make is, your source is a picture, an anecdote if you wish. Please provide more links.

Right, thanks.

I thought the "Pope is a Nazi" pictures were funnier, myself.

So what if he pope is jewish? :p

He's as much a jew as he is a christian.

Either way he's equally inept at upholding and preserving the mandatory laws of moses.

What does this even have to do with the topic of this thread?
Are you saying islam is "more extremist" because it's anti-semetic, even though you're christian and anti-islamic?

This is awesome. Nemesis is like "they are burning symbolic objects and that is NOT GOOD."

Do you know how many flags of various nations I have burned just yesterday?
Sixty.
Yet, surprisingly enough, the voodoo majics have not yet assassinated any of their leaders!

Now how is it that burning a piece of cloth will not have vast ramifications on global stability?
Damn the right to protest! Damn it to hell! Am I rite??

Also, again, what the hell does this have to do with a thread about the many terrible downsides of christianity?
Please don't turn into another kathaksung.

I have come back to say one thing but I'll leave it on this note. Mecha let God be God. He alone will do the judging and see who is fit for hell. Also for all those quotes you gave not a single one of them was cited. (Chapter and Verse) Maybe tell where your getting this from next time. You don't have to be a part of a group to understand it but I'm just saying that we should leave those kind of judgements up to God. The primary belief of Christianity is that believing in Jesus as your savior and that He died for all sins is the pathway to heaven. Maybe my opinions are off. Perhaps my thinking that tried to find a little common ground between Athiests and Christians was wrong and seen as ignorance in the eyes of God. If so I hope He can forgive me. Believe it or not I want to be on friendly terms with everyone here religious or not. I'm sorry if that offended anyone here. I believe my last post was a bit harsh and un-Christian so I thought I'd leave a better comment for my last one. Ok that is all.

Well kathkasung, in the other thread you did blame vaguely defined "Europeans" for the whole US torture scandal. I think we should just ignore you at this point.

I have come back to say one thing but I'll leave it on this note. Mecha let God be God. He alone will do the judging and see who is fit for hell.
Yes, I already agreed that this was the case. However, the bible is there for a reason, and that reason is to warn sinners of why god will send them to hell, and methods through which the religious might prevent that from happening.
Do you think god jesus flew down just to up and vanish later with no consequences?
The bible tells us they came down primarily to deliver their teachings. Those teachings are in the bible, and are mandatory.

To call the bible worthless as a set of rule/laws/guidelines/whatever is a lie against jesus.

Also for all those quotes you gave not a single one of them was cited. (Chapter and Verse)Maybe tell where your getting this from next time.

LIAR.

The following are quotations from posts I made in this thread:

*****************

"Let's just pretend for a second that Jesus is not a false prophet and not destined for eternal torture in hell.
Jesus says:

'Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law of Moses or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.
In truth I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even the smallest stroke of a letter will pass away from The Law.'
(Matthew 5:17 & 5:18)

At no point does jesus ever call the old laws obsolete. Above, he calls them mandatory forever."

""In everything do to others as you would have them do to you." -Matthew 7:12.

Once again, you have removed the context.
The context is that Jesus says you MUST follow the Old Testament TO THE LETTER."

"The funny part is that god is supposedly omniscient, when things like this in the bible obviously contradict that claim.

If he were omniscient, he'd see your poo wherever you buried it, no matter how carefully concealed. Hell, he'll even watch it while it's coming out of you. He'll stare directly at your poo for the rest of eternity.

"The eyes of the Lord are in every place."
Proverbs 15:3"

""who am I to judge this person? Am I not as great of sinner as he?"

Error: Jesus didn't say that at all. Jesus is actually the appointed judge of all mankind: See John 5:20-30."

""A woman must not dress like a man. [...] Whoever does this is an abomination to God." Deuteronomy 22:5

Nowhere does it say that this woman is to be put on trial and executed. Only that she is an "abomination" and, thus, cursed and hellbound.
The painful tortures god inflicts before you even die are listed in Leviticus 26:22 and Deuteronomy 28:15-63.
This is the punishment for minor offences."

"Also:

Psalm 62:12
For you render to each one according to his works.

Proverbs 10:16
The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

Jeremiah 17:10
I the Lord ... give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Ezekiel 18:27
When the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness ... and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul.

Matthew 5:20
Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 12:37
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Matthew 16:27
For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

Matthew 19:17
If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.

Matthew 25:41-46
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Luke 10:26-28
He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

John 5:29
And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Romans 2:6, 13
Who will render to each one according to his deeds. ... For not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified.

2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the jugment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

2 Corinthians 11:15
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

Philippians 2:12
"Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."

James 2:14
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?

James 2:17
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

James 2:21-25
Was not Abraham our father justified by works? You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rabab the harlot also justified by works? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

1 Peter 1:17
The Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work.

Revelation 2:23
I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

Revelation 20:12-13
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life.

Passages that proclaim the importance of following the laws outnumber those that emphasize faith by at least twice as many.

Please don't lie about Jesus."

"'I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses the experts in The Law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.'
(Matthew 5:20)

People who don't follow the law are "least" of the KoH.
People who don't follow the law are denied entry to the KoH and go to hell."

"14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
14:19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
14:20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

The holy ghost is god. Jesus also is god. The christian god is a trinity.

Note John 14:21:
The love of Jesus comes FIRST through obeying his commandments (and thus the law of moses). Obeying the commandments is one of the only acceptable shows of faith. Faith then gains you the respect of god. And, only then, manifestations."

If you would like further relevant documentation, you can check the other thread on the subject or simply ask me.

You don't have to be a part of a group to understand it but I'm just saying that we should leave those kind of judgements up to God.
I can't send you to hell. I'm not god after all.
But I can read and understand the bible, wheras you have had difficulty even reading this thread.

The primary belief of Christianity is that believing in Jesus as your savior and that He died for all sins is the pathway to heaven. Maybe my opinions are off.
They are. The bible says so.

Perhaps my thinking that tried to find a little common ground between Athiests and Christians was wrong and seen as ignorance in the eyes of God.
It was. The bible calls atheists fools in the eyes of god.

If so I hope He can forgive me.
He won't unless you follow the laws. The bible says so.

Believe it or not I want to be on friendly terms with everyone here religious or not. I'm sorry if that offended anyone here. I believe my last post was a bit harsh and un-Christian so I thought I'd leave a better comment for my last one.
Actually, the bible is pretty clear that acting like an old-testament jerk and simultaneously feeling bad about it are exactly what it means to be a christian.

You are truly the giant mechanized Godzilla to kathaksung's Tokyo, and balsa-wood biplanes, and so forth.

lol!

I thought kong had a monopoly on balsa-wood bi-plane bashing

Mecha has toe missles and radioactive spine thingys

lol, so did I. But as cool as Kong is, his Fur Coat of +800% Hugeness and +5 Anger is no match for exploding toes :p

Yes, and I was telling you that Christianity is more than capable of sinking down into the destructive depths of radical Islam. You weren't just talking about these religions in their contemporary settings. If you were, you'd have no reason to be pulling out Koran quotes. You are implicitly making the argument that Islam is inherently a destructive religion. It is, but no more or less than Christianity.

Good god, your my hero.
