Do you like shows with great acting and production?

Do you like mysteries that aren't clichéd?

Do you dislike when computers are inexplicable magical tools?

Do you like shows that make you think?

You will love this.

Rubicon is an American television series created by Jason Horwitch and produced by Henry Bromell that is broadcast on the AMC television network. The series centers around an intelligence analyst at a national think tank called the American Policy Institute (API) who discovers that he may be working with members of a secret society that manipulates world events on a grand scale.

The series is influenced by conspiracy films of the 1970s such as All The President's Men, Three Days of the Condor and The Parallax View, which find an innocent character caught up in, and slowly unraveling, a major conspiracy.

I won't lie, this show requires a little dedication. It's hard to sit down in front of this show for an hour, come away only with what's been handed to you on a silver platter, and still feel like you know what's going on. You will have to think. You will have to ponder. You will have to deal with lies, two-faced characters, and the general feelings of disorientation and unsatisfied curiosity that plagues the main character Will Travers. But you will come away with an enormous appreciation for the complexity of the story, and an endless hunger for just one more piece of information.

The answers come slow. Sometimes they come in plain sight, sometimes not, and often they are hidden within other answers. Sometimes the answers only serve to raise more questions. But what's the fun in knowing everything there is to know in the story, especially one like this? How can there be a conspiracy without doubt?

If any of this sounds even remotely interesting to you, PLEASE watch this Sunday's episode. There is a recap at the beginning of every episode that ensures you are never left completely in the dark, whether you're a diehard fan, a first-time watcher, or simply giving it a second chance. Believe me, while the pace is still slow, it has picked up drastically from the first few episodes. Actual things are happening. I won't spoil anything, but you should know that at this point, at least one character is under a very real conspiracy-related threat of death. Shit is about to go down. And several characters, as of the past two episodes, can now legitimately be described as "badass".

I don't like many shows. In fact, I downright hate most shows. I find them boring, inane, predictable, and utterly pointless. But Rubicon is different. I love it. You might too.

I heard good things about this from a friend who also loves really great tv shows. I take his advice like yours, once done with a few shows i'll give a whirl.

No. You watch the next episode as soon as it's out, you terrible man!

Seriously though, it needs good ratings, otherwise it might not get the second season it desperately deserves.

I've been watching this for the past few days.

It does get quite compelling later on. Overall I'm glad I kept watching.

This thread isn't about Rubicon, so much as enticing more people to watch Rubicon so it doesn't get cancelled. Your thread is still the discussion thread in my mind :)

You son of a bitch!
YOU STOLE MY FORMAT!
THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

But, I forgive you because this is indeed a good show that definitely needs to live past its first season.

Didn't we already have a thread on how great Rubicon is? You're confusing me.

I saw the pilot and didn't find it terribly interesting, but the parking space thing at the end was quite intriguing.

I've actually been recording it, but not watching it. Might check it out tonight.

Tonight's episode easily was the best. Things are reallllllly starting to come together.

Yeah, really liked this latest episode. MadMan only has 2 episodes left, so this season of Rubicon should be closing up soon too.

I believe last night's preview of next week's episode said two left as well.

Does anyone know how many hits this show is getting? I can't imagine as much as it definitely deserves. It deeply saddens me that this probably won't go to a second season.

I don't know much about the ratings it's getting but it has gotten good reviews. And I don't see AMC bailing on this after just one season.

No ****ing way is this getting cancelled.
From all of the praise it's getting and the promos for the show that detail said praise, I really don't think AMC has any intention to axe it.

Latest ep was amazing, the ending with Andy especially.

Yeah this latest one was easily the best yet.

Oh. Em. GEE.

This episode was so good. Revelation after revelation, yet still the mystery keeps getting more and more complex. These are the hallmarks of a conspiracy with legs.

"Continue to celebrate our anniversary." I'm going to extrapolate like crazy here: What if "Tom Rhumor" is a manufactured identity, one that he created when he met Katherine, with the intent of exposing the Atlas conspiracy at a much later date? Bloom commented last episode that it was "interesting" she spelled it with an H. This, combined with his hidden letter and the curiously-worded "continue to celebrate our anniversary" will probably combine to lead to the name or location of another person or event.

My off-the-wall guess is that their anniversary is in March. Take out the wayward "H" in Rhumor, and you get both Rumor and Marc. The day of the anniversary could be the year Tom changed his identity from Marc Something to Tom Rhumor. It would certainly be repeating the motif we saw with Kateb's origins. And it goes from there.

Anyway, fantastic episode, loved Will's fight with Bloom. Everything was awesome. I need to watch it again, and possibly again again.

Spangler is such a dirty ****, watched two last episodes there, I gotta say things are heating up.

Btw, that was fast with Will and Katherine meeting up. Didn't expect it so soon.

FUN FACT: The Actor who plays Grant (Christopher Evan Welch), also plays Tails in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog 1993

Ah. Now that's what I call great TV.

I knew it was all connected a few episodes back, but it's nice to see it.

Where's Katherine?

Yeah it's still not looking good at all.

Let's see how it did tonight.

It's still beating out a significant number of Breaking Bad episodes, though. And considering how cheap the show is, AMC probably has greater reason to renew this than we think.

I'd like to think that AMC is one of the few networks that realizes some shows need time to really catch on with an audience.

I've been meaning to check this show out since I keep hearing more and more good things about it as the season goes on.

That was a terrifying episode.
I shit many bricks.

AWESOME.

It'll be a conspiracy if this doesn't go to a second season.

For season two: We know that Spangler will either be dead or in hiding, Kathryn was likely killed, Will never got David's message, Miles knows about the conspiracy but doesn't yet believe it, Andy is an agent likely of allegiance to Kale, David was working with Tom to bring down the conspiracy, Wheeler is probably Spangler's superior in a higher (perhaps international) echelon of operations, and anybody could be killed completely inconspicuously in broad daylight.
Best episode of the season by a hair or three. I can't imagine this show not getting a second one.

Bricks were most definitely shat when it was uncovered that Andy was directly involved in the entire thing. I had an idea that this was the case a few episodes back, but couldn't find any substantial clues to it being true.

I loved that scene. "No. You can't be here." I had that same feeling but I could never quite put my finger on why. Knowing it now though, the final line of episode 9 changes meaning completely - "I like that you have a gun." I think it's great that the writers are adding little things like this, I think it'll make rewatching the season really rewarding.

Thats kind of a shitty place to end it at though, I guess Im just disappointed its over. Seems like AMC shows end way too quickly. Really looking forward to next season of this.

What the **** that was the finale? Why? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?

Yeap. I didn't want to post it, haha. :(

I want to start a petition, or movement, or whatever you want to call it, to get another network to pick this up.

So I gotta ask: is this show worth watching even with the cancellation?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

What the **** what the **** what the fuuuuuuuuuck?!

God damn it!
