The difference is that there are Christian extremists who do awful things, and then a whole lot of just Christians who don't bother anyone or have their money stolen by any church.

The entire premise of Scientology is to steal people's money and brainwash them into giving them even more money.

Also the entire premise of Scientology is that it was made up by a former science fiction writer. He told people throughout his science fiction writing career that he was going to "make up a religion." And then he did, in like the 50s or something.

At least Christianity predates that like 1,950 years. :p
 
He wasn't making enough money from Science Fiction (since he wasn't a very good writer), he even said the easiest way to make money is to start your own religion.

I lost all respect for Tom when he went on the Today show and argued with Matt Lauer about taking medication. I thought that he was going to start frothing at the mouth at any second. He was acting like he had a PhD in Medicine or Pharmacology. What a nut.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The money I donate to my church goes toward paying the 2 pastors meager salary (they aren't getting rich, they're getting paid beans), missionary work (please don't give me any crap about this, on top of spreading the Gospel they're also building hospitals and helping the needy in places such as Africa, without raping kids like the UN does), and general maintenance of the church.
Anyway, that's a little rant I just had to post.

And scientology sucks.
 
Understandable, but jeesh lighten up. I was refering to the corporate side of all major religions.

I didn't say that they don't do any good things.
