Scotland vs France

Each of the home nations has their own independently funded football association and so FIFA allows the separate teas. Or so I am led to believe.

The Olympic committee has a different view however and only allows GB (or any one of the selected home teams) to compete. As a result the UK doesn't bother to send a football team to the Olympics.

The UK is a union of 4 countries, not a country. Scotland and N.Ireland have seperate laws from England and Wales.
The states of Germany have greater independence than the countries of the UK. Should each of those get their own national football team too?

If the German states wanted to enter football tournaments as separate entities they should be allowed to. I'm no expert on Germany but I think the German states are probably culturally a lot more homogeneous than the UK.
