Screenshots of new CRYTEK engine

Seen these last week.

Farcry+Blurx20 = this

HOLY SHIT, looks great. thanks for posting this

That´s not the new crytek engine. It is the cryengine of far cry with patch 1.3. Crytek developed a benchmark for ATI which will be shown next week - perhaps release of a new ATI graphiccard, I dunno. The new screens has just got more polygons and movie features like depth of field...

Looks good, the skin details is very nice.

Just looks like the Farcry engine with higher res textures...?

Which is good..... The Crytek engine was good to start with.

Yeah, instead of making a new engine, maybe they should update FC more :/

As I said before it´s not a new engine, it´s the far cry patch 1.3 engine...

Very good! Im wondering if the screens are ingame or just a tech demo.
ATI will show this Demo in San Francisco on the first of december when they present their new R480-Chip.

Any links on that? That sounds great, I ve never seen those places and scenes in those screenshots anywere in the game though...

Looks good and so what if its not the next engine...the crytek engine is still one of the best engines availiable. Best - if your looking for massive landscapes and long view distances.

CryTek has always been a good engine. Wow those screens look really good. thx for link.

Very nice, althought the old version wasnt bad either.

Wow, Crytek must be really loaded to make a succesor to an already good engine. I mean, which developer these days has money to make two consecutive engines in the same time frame.

its looking good... i dont think my 9800 pro will do too well on it though :p

thank god it's not Far Cry 2, that's the last thing the world needs

I'm about 50% through HL2 and i dont think its better than FarCry. Of course, this is my opinion. FarCry2 would'nt go a miss, infact i'd love a FarCry2.

I read that the makers of the Cryengine was brothers and made most of it on lap-tops in there own house then expanded on it and voila' FarCry popped out.

A feeling creeps up on me that in a few years, PC games will consist mainly of interactive techdemo's like Doom 3 and to a lesser degree Far Cry.

That will stop when games are photorealistic and scientists are able to use them to conduct physic experiments in...

Its not a different engine. All they did was add PS 3.0 and HDR. In a interview from crytek they said it took them a few months 2-3.

Oh, I see.

It's just higher-res textures then. No biggie, I suppose Doom 3 will make it crap in it's pants when id releases higher detail textures in a patch later on.

 Looks pretty good, I like how the models and stuff are this time around.

ALso aout the x850, what's the deal with it? By the look of this techdemo it sounds great.

Nah, because by that time photorealism will be the norm and therefore not in the slightest bit impresive. Then we will see fun games poping up and the boreing ones disapearing because they can be done by any developer with no gimmic to sell them. :)

At least thats what I am hoping... :p

The should work on Far Cry 2.
They work on a new project but not Far Cry 2 (Ea is their new publisher perhaps Ubisoft has the license for Far Cry 2). Estimated release is the first half of 2006...

Wow, that's a really good point. Didn't even think about that.

..One that doesn't pay for the software it uses.

But that was never proven was it?
A trainee who was fired by crytek said that they use non-paid software. I think it wasn´t that big because you never heard anything again. Maybe just one or two copies...

Really? All I remember about FarCry is that it started off good but by the end it had turned into a boring frag fest on the Island of Dr. Moreau. Pff Trigan's...crap. I couldn't even force myself to complete it, and that's saying something when I found DooM 3 pretty fun.
