Kind of weird/creepy that he did a live demonstration on stage...

If I could print kidneys I'd do demonstrations out in the city streets. Imagine how sad all those people would be after I rub it in their faces that I can make a dozen kidneys in a few minutes while it took them several months to do it and all they could make was two.

EDIT: Also, this is one more step to immortality. **** yeah.

Wow. This is amazing. That's ****ing amazing. I figured 3D printers would take years to do anything useful and now they can print KIDNEYS?!

Holy shit. We're living in the ****ing future.

Pfft, wake me up when it can print an exact replica of my brain.
Including soul.

Too bad this sort of thing won't be realized for the general world at large basically... ever.

Lol, kidney printer. Those crazy scientists!

Simply amazing stuff, whether it will be globally accessible or not, it's a big leap forward.

Uh, I wholeheartedly disagree. I bet in 30 years artificial kidneys like this will be a common thing. I bet that in the US it will probably start showing up in hospitals in 10 years or less.

Hopefully you are right. I just know business practices by current and past generations abhor that sort of widespread universal benefit for mankind thing without huge demands for profit.

Though there are lots of contradictions to what I say when considering certain things in history, like vaccines and stuff. I chalk that kind of drive towards the good hearted people in society.

For a fantastically low price of [World Government Currency]19,999 a kidney. (Before global carbon tax)

But then there'll be a black market for back street organ printers. Shady dealers printing off organs from machines unapproved by the Government for lower prices.

There'll be a film about it called 'Kidney Men'.

Stylo has cemented his place in hl2.net from this day forward.

If anyone questions you, use this post as a receipt.

Starring Nicolas Cage? Oh please oh please!

It can be like a combination of Matchstick Men and Lord of War.

You can't make a living selling legal kidneys. The margins are too low. 1 2 3 1 2 3.

Is this for real? I'm pretty sure he's just kidneying.

If he's not, urine big trouble for doubting him.

He sure has stones to do it on stage, where it could potentially fail.

What the fuck, is this still 2011 or have I suddenly woken up in 2025?

Hey don't joke about that. There are several people who were illegally unfrozen and just let loose without any explanation about the terrible tragedy that befell them in 2011. You know it's 2027 so don't joke around.

You forgot to tell him that Earth was destroyed in 2012 and humans moved to the nearby planet of Mars. We were able to colonize the planet and use it as a safe haven. We even met some extraterrestrial life, and they turned out to be friendly, giving us food and pleasure.

Could they not have given us something more interesting like more advanced technology than our own?

I can already get handjobs and sammiches off my girlfriend. :\

I sometimes wonder that myself, but oh man those massages were so soothing I thought my ding-a-ling was going to impale the guy in the eye.

So, I guess the only question remaining is "how long until we can print off entire people".

You could photocopy your own army!

Or photocopy your partner and have a 3-some

I imagine the early prototypes of printed people would be quite low in resolution and thus hideous!

Or photocopy your partner and have a 3-some

If I could photocopy anyone, It wouldn't be my partner...

As long as the important parts aren't low res, that'd cut you something rotten!

My life as a pixel - The story of mankind's earliest printed human.

If you ate organs and limbs that were printed, would you technically be a cannibal?

I guess so, it's replicated tissue right?

That is sweet, but why do I get the feeling it's too good to be true? There's gotta be some giant draw back to this which is why it hasn't been implemented on a wide scale. The article does say the first person to get one of these was 10 years ago.

They're still developing the technology? It was probably highly experimental back then if they only tested it on one person.

Yeah, but I'm just a bit skeptical of the fact that if you do a google news search on liver print or liver TED only a small handful of results come up.

Let's hope this is something that could truly be put to use in the next few years, it would save thousands of lives each year.

Yeah. I'm kind of amazed that something this sensational hasn't spread like wild fire across the news services, which really makes me doubt it's credibility at this point in time (actual TED footage, on the www.TED.com site would help).

True enough. Would really love to see it, at least.
