basicly getting horrible crackling sound(s) all the time when my speakers are on. however, these are new and I had the same with a previous pairso I'm guessing it's an issuer on the PC. any thoughts?

many thx.

Mind need to invest in a new soundcard.
At least that's what i came down to when i had this issue.
Make sure all of your lines are connected securely

reinstall sound drivers, if that doesn't work buy a cheap soundcard

I think most people are familiar with the crackling sound in headphones (for example) when the cord has been damaged, and if you have tried to different sets of speakers (different model unit even), then I think you can eliminate the speakers as a cause.

Just curious, what CPU are you using? Is the computer struggling to do the task at hand (when the crackling occurs) -- for example, choppy framerate? Or does it do this simply when playing an MP3?

I get pretty loud buzzing from my speakers, but it's kind of intermittent. I blame the sub/amp, and the electrical in my house. One time I went upstairs to turn off all the lights, and came back to find the buzzing had disappeared! Haven't bothered to see if this always work though.

urrm, Intel core 2 quad.

OK never mind that then. It was a long shot.

If you can give more specifics, it really helps troubleshoot problems -

e.g. Onboard audio, PCI card?

Not only specifics, but more background information -

e.g. The PC has done this since you got it (Y/N)?

The more details you give, the better the chance we can read it and give good advice.
