Setting up a Server?

Do I need to purchase another game to run a server on an internal Lan? Can I run the same copy on multiple machines on the same network?

You don't need to purchase another game, but you might want to download the dedicated server from Steam. You can use the same copy on multiple machines but expect to have to mess around with Steam to get it to work (if you're using the same account on >1 machine you have to go offline on the rest)

Yes, it should work, as long as none of the computers are connected to the Internet.
