Shabby treatment of The Orange Box on G4

At least Kevin Pereira does his part to defend the game in the face of vacuous and ill-informed criticism. Personally, I just think it's a shame that they would have chosen to ask these three particular guests how they felt about The Orange Box.

Oh well, maybe G4 will remedy this situation with the Orange Box special on X-Play tonight.

(Lastly, I'm sorry if someone has already posted on this. I had a look around the forum, but didn't notice anything).

That film director also doesn't seem to realise that Half Life games have been released in 1998, 2004 and 2006. He seems to think that the last Half-Life game was 7 years ago.

Yep, that's pretty much G4.

These people cease to matter after the first few seconds. One claims to be a 'pop culture expert' but is somehow playing an old game. That's right Bioshock is OLD, especialy if you're supposed to 'pop'.
The second admits she's not into games, take that admision as meaning that she's aware they exist and knows some names but actually she doesn't play anything after solitaire.
The third doesn't seem to care either way.
 
Why the hell do they ask people like that what they think about video games? Thats equivalent to asking a huge Sports Jock about his thoughts on DnD.

I found it kind of odd that a review that comes across as so positive would award the game a mere 9.3 (the lowest score posted on Metacritic's entry for the 360 version to date).

But the only thing I have an honest to God problem with is that they gave the Ep. 2 a measly 9.3 for "Story" after giving Halo 3 a 9.5 in the same category. They themselves say it's "The most rewarding story to date." And this is Half-Life we're talking about.

My faith in humanity just decreased a little more with those [G4] idiots. Honestly, do they even really know what it is they are talking about?

The gametrailers one is fairly good, brilliant by contrast to G4. Atleast so far, the download is kinda slow.

this show confuses me, it doesn't have the usual geeks ala Gamespot reviews f.e, these people actually play games? Is G4 a gamer tv channel or games are part of it?

That was the part which made me literally say wtf out loud. If he dislikes TF2 that's fine, everyone is entitled, but comparing it to Quake just shows ignorance.

Ahh well...at least there was Olivia Munn to look at after that segment. :)
 
I think HL2 and the episodes look better than almost everything else out there myself. Some people just seem to think that more bloom and coloured lights means better graphics whereas I disagree.
 
Who the ****k cares what those twats think? Unfortunately, such idiots can only do harm.
 
G4 should be taken with nothing more than a grain of salt. With all the bullshit they've pulled in the past, their words mean nothing in my eyes.
 
Lets just say that G4 thinks it is watched by the gaming community as much as those pop culture experts think they know WTF they are talking about.

@topic; TF2 = Quake ? I don't think so... though I don't like both of them. (Fortress Forever >>>> TF2)
 
I propose this scenario- If G4 had given a glowing review of Orange Box would you have watched their channel anymore/less?

G4 is a joke anyway. The only thing I watch on there is Ninja Warrior, everything else is Grade A crap.

X-Play gave EP2, TF2, and Portal 5 out of 5, and I did watch that. Had some nice interviews with Gabe and others. Gabe even said that Chell is an important character in the HL universe and would interact with other well known NPCs in the future.

edit: that game trailers one was so biased. they based the damn game on the 360 alone....
 
Well, those are the same people who didn`t like Red Orchestra because you don`t have health packs laying on the ground everywhere and the gameplay is too slow (bots are stupid and NO CROSSHAIR).

Looks like X-Play has a nice summary, though they have a couple big spoilers in there.

In contrast to the pitiful Attack of the Show bit, it's almost hard to believe they're on the same network. At least the host seemed to get it - considering his comments on their comments.
