Shooting through objects?

E.g. Will a bullet fired at a windows make a hole and go through and harm someone behind OR will it break the window and stop there?

I think you can shoot through a window and the place around where the bullet entered would shatter and the bullet would travel through it.

Good. But this apparently don't apply to other stuff, they will just break on the predifined spot wherever you shoot them

In this part of the map the hostages are on the other side of the wall shown in the first picture. The second picture is from the other side of the wall, but still looking in the same direction. The hostages disappeared for some reason.

Edit: Bullets will go through barrels (wooden and metal) and hit whatever is behind. The wooden barrels usually don't break on the first hit. It also depends how powerful your gun is.

I read somewhere that bullets go through any object that is only one block (I'm not sure if "block" is the right word) thick. On Dust, you can shoot through the metal surface of the van (the one you can enter) and hit anyone inside it.

Basically, bullets will go through thin walls and objects, but not thicker walls and objects.

Depends on what guns you use. Ever notice double kills with one bullet, like an awp will penetrate someones skull and keep going killing anything behind it so dont ever run behind someone but more off to the side. You can shoot through wooden crates/boxes, corners of brick walls, through wooden walls like office and italy, through windows....Actually pretty realistic. Once wall hacks start flooding, I guess then we will really know what hackers can shoot through or not.

why do so many people ask? the answer is a 10000% yes. It has done in the orginal cs for years and will continue. Wood, glass, metal sheets, and thin concrete and other players bullets penetrate. The gun also has an effect, eg. the pistols (cept deagle), all the smgs cannot penetrate walls, every other gun can. Did you search this topic before asking? geez ive answered this 3 times now!

Three in the initial CS:S maps. I'd expect more in HL2, such as more durable, bullet-resistant glass that gives way after many shots. The three we've seen so far:

1) In Office, you can shoot it and it cracks the whole pane and makes a hole where you shot. Touching/shooting it again will make more holes until the whole thing collapses.

2) In Office, there are skinny panes of bullet-proof glass. You can make stars in the glass but it won't ever break from bullets or explosives.

3) In Chateau, there are windows near the CT spawn that shatter if hit with a single shot. The pieces fall and land on the ground, are reflective, and fade away after a while.

If you knew anything at all about balistics, you would know that bullets carry blood out of the body and with the direction of the bullet, so that where the bullet lands the blood will land with it. Realistic, not like the original wich I HOPE TO GOD was the purpose of that reply.

I do know something about balistics. Did you even care to look at the screenshots?

Anyone remember a Quake III mod where you had real weapons and it was police against terrorist.. I think... some german team made it...
That mod had penetrating bullets in a way that felt really good(edit: hmm.. this sentence didn't come out right ). Can't remember the name though

Yeah bullets can go through the wall. In the bug bait demonstration, when he comes to those sentry guns and he is hiding to the side of the metal thing with bullet proof glass, you can see little holes in the metal forming from the bullets.
