Should America control the Internet?

Three things make the world go round...
1) Oil
2) Drugs
3)Digital Information.
If the net remains in America's hands, it will soon be censored almost certainly. Just like all media forms in america. Like the radio and the television. Im not exactly sure, but I think there is a total monopoly over the radio in america, and an oligopoly over the television networks. No doubt the internet will become the same under american hands. This is why the world is so desperate to take it off americas hands and share the internet with the world. Because it would Prevent censorship and encourage the free flow of information.
People will only understand the value of the internet after it is lost to them.

, I love no limit! He is UNLIMITED!Seriously though, I highly doubt the internet will remain as free as it is today within a few years. It will be controlled and censored like all other media in the world and they'll give us bullshit reasons like pornography or terrorism to justify it.

You know, as of right now, the internet is pretty much anarchy, but we've all shown that like countries, in a digital world we can make small orders (im declaring war on half life fallout!) such as these forums for isntance, which have set rules that we all find fair (unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, they're all dictatorships, hah!). Theres probably thousands of gigs of porn and crap laying around, but I think we've shown that we can be smart and govern ourselves with popup blockers, security, and virus scanners and what have you, so if any country gets domain of the internet, which is supposed to be an unaudited connection with everyone else in the world, I for one, will quit internet.
Let it remain in every human being of the world's hands.
And whoever said that the united states already owns it, nah, they may own all the .com domains, but theres still .ca, .co.uk (for some reason that doesnt look right), and whatever else.

America doesn't have the means necessary to control the internet or censor it. Numerous attempts have been challenged and struck down by the supreme court. The only nation that has bothered to censor the internet and control its citizens is China, and not even that has been completly sucessful.
