Signtature Guidelines?

I'm curious as to the signature guidelines of this forum. I've seen several signatures that are much longer the the messages they usually accompany. Sometimes much longer. (There is at least 1 person with a signature over 15 lines.)

Is this acceptable on this forum? Should we "report" excessive signatures? (What is considered excessive here?)

And while I'm on the subject why on earth do people insist on posting all the specs of their computer, etc in their signature? Is that how you sign your email? Your letters? School papers? I really don't care to know the details of your life, your computer, your car, or how much you make in a year.

The maximum signature length allowed at present time is 4 lines, and it'd be alot of help if you could report or tell people that do exceed this rule. It is mentioned in the forum rules, though. Find them here:

Good point Ahnteis. I don't know, but it seems commonplace enough in other forums. Perhaps the precident has already been set?

Sig pics are fun--when they're small. However, there's always some dude who has to make a huge image or flash signature that makes reading the board a chore.

Pictures in signatures..

a) Slow the forums down
b) Make it harder for people on 56k to load forum pages
c) Can make forums look ugly
d) usually get exploited by some idiot.

PM me somtime, I have a script for vBB that will allow the admin to limit sig picture size, and text limits.

Sig pics are irritating as hell, avatars of 60x60 pixels are fine by me

Sig pics are fine when done well, but can be irritating, unfortunately. Maybe I should add to my sig at some point.
