I wouldn't because I seriously want the CE which would be hard to get through Steam. UNLESS you could order the whole box etc through Steam & then VALVe sends it home to your door, which wouldn't take a month. Then I wouldn't have a problem with this

There is no working keygen for HL keys. They are random numbers, not encrypted names. The things that claim to be keygens are actually programs that spit out lists of known keys that have been stolen.

most keys are not generated randomly, but rarely will crackers take the time to dycript an algorythem, they will most likely take a list of 10 put it into a prog, and then have you click a button to display one. it really is a keygen if you type in a name and then it gives you a diffrent keygen.

You're right in saying that most of them are simply lists of know keys. It's not worth anyone's time to break the algorithm for a game. It takes teams of people quite some time to do that.

You'll find that major products like Windows have their algorithms cracked and you can get an actual keygenerator. But it's rare that anyone would go to so much trouble.

And that's why the keys practically never works online. They are either already in-use or already banned.

nigh impossible (almost made that into impissobile) isn't very correct. AFAIK, keys for CoD work online (well "most" anyway).

I couldn't agree more. What I paid for Half-Life when it came out (actually bought it twice, long story) means NOTHING compared to the thousands of hours I've spent with the game and it's mods. I have no problem buying Half-Life 2 on Steam first and buying the box later, that will also give me an extra key to lend to friends wanting to try out Half-Life 2 + mods.

Nah, its not a big deal cause he is one of my close friends. He tried to show me his skills and I was immpressed by it.. he even superpass me with his skills ...............It was a joke thats all.

Stored in hex format. You generate passwords by cracking up the file that contains .exe but you need to load it up into a hex editor +Disassembelar to break the code into simple text. its a long explination really.

I don't know what you mean about hacking. Hacking doesn't require that you have tons of cd keys, it requires that you have hacks. Until recently, there wasn't a good global system for banning people for cheating. Now that there is, cheating has dropped off significantly on sercure servers.
