SinEpisodes.net reborn!

PS. Do other mods get to submit a huge pic for newsposts as well? I'll fix something up that screams "ZOMBIE MASTERRRRRRR" with a gang of hawt grils underneath.

They certainly do, if there's an appropriate/good enough/the right size image!

are we affiliated?
If you mean a plug for a news story, then yes.
It's a revolution in game design that's paved the way forward for not only many other games developers, but also our beloved Half-Life 2 which Valve are now using to take an iterative and episodic approach to their engine and the Half-Life 2 series. It's releasing on a content delivery platform that is already revolutionising the way that games can be purchased, played and updated; the very same system used to deliver all Valve titles. It's being built on the Source engine which is developed by Valve and is going to be used for many game-generations to come to produce the games we love.
Just because you sprinkle "Valve" and "Half-Life 2" all over the place doesn't mean SiN is affiliated or have anything to do with each other.

Yes, I am being a bit harsh, but this would've been a better post for the Games Forum than a top news story of halflife2.net.

Edit: And to note, I'm your 100th forum member. :)

Edit2: How interesting, the confirmation email for sinepisodes.net comes from chris[AT]halflife2.net...

What on earth does that have to do with anything?
Nothing. Just a nice, even number. Don't I get like a slice of cake or nething? ;(

To be honest, if the news page didn't have this information I don't think I would have come accross SinEpisodes.net any time soon and it's something that I, an average punter, want to hear about :\

What i'm saying is, there's a large gap between mods with no media/PR budget and a professionally developed game. It's the mods that deserve the free attention.
Considering the sites affiliation, also, i do not see why you need to post all SinEp news here too.

My point exactly.

Javert, just because you don't want to see this on the front page, doesn't necessarily make it the point of view of the majority of the readers here. I'll go back to my earlier comment:

Besides, there's a lot more people out there that appreciate being informed that SiNEpisodes.net is back than those that are complaining.

Chris, What i like about SinEp is that you've been talking to Ritual, trying to get some sort of interview lined up. Thats great.

Where's hl2.net, supposidly the biggest fanbase for a half-life website ever and there's no badgering valve about interviews, extra news, screenshots, tidbits... all the news is rehashing of other websites, we should be on our own feet reporting the best hl2 news.

Hell, we didnt even get the aftermath trailer before anyone else.

Because I'm at college, Sui's at college, smash must have other things to do and nobody else is writing anything. News posting + sixth form + life = not much time. I have written articles and stuff; one has been in limbo for a few months now and others are waiting for a media update to accompany them/almost finished/on the way. We probably need a content writer who just writes articles; preferably someone with the time to actually do so.

I speak to Valve's Doug Lombardi regularly trying to get exclusive content and interviews but alas, we never get any.

The last interview I sent to Doug Lombardi took 6 months to be responded to, and by then every single other website had already reviewed the information.

Currently Samon is writing an interview for Marc Laidlaw, which will probably also take a fairly long time to come back to us.

With all due respect oldagerocker, don't make assumptions about what we do behind the scenes, because you clearly have no idea.

Nothing wrong with plugging your friend's site, surely. :) Especially if they help run this site. :p

Fair enough, its good to know there's some things in the works. I'd have thought Lombardi would be more cooperative, but i guess he saves all the interviews for game hyping time.

It's a shame, we should get all the new media and news content though, but there's not allot more you can do about it. :frown:

I have always personally felt it a little bit unfair, but then again, HLFallout and Planet Half-Life rarely get exclusive scoops either.

We may have 300-500 people viewing our forum at any one time, but the exclusives are saved for the big guys like Eurogamer, IGN/Gamespy and 1up.com who probably have in excess of 2000+ people viewing a page/forum at any one time.

Then of course there's the print magazines who reach tens of thousands of people every month.

We're tiny in comparison... unfortunately :(

yea, but your site i think is more dynamic to valves long term interest.

to get into eurogamer, you have to have some big time story to tell, thats rare when something big comes out. mod sites keep the hardcore fans happy, the ones looking into mods, checking valve news every single day.

valve should, and kinda do , give us little people information. If you send list of questions, it may not get answered, but and lotsa people have recieved information in small bits from valve.

hehe, hey that would be an awsome interview to post, get everyone to forward their emails from valve for one long interview. with all those questions that not everyone knows was answered

Sadly although HL2.net is one of the biggest fansites it's still a minnow compared to the professional media/press run sites and Valve will always give the exclusives on what is new/upcoming to those guys...unfortunately that's the nature of the beast. :|
