So a chemical plant went boom in Apex last night.

Also known as the city really near Raleigh. A big cloud of Chlorine Gas is hovering over the city now. It's totally evacuated, and apparently a few other cities may have to evacuate soon.

Also, it was raining today, so the gas may be in the water systems and everything.

Uh, I couldn't give you exact directions, but about maybe 30-45 minutes away from where I live, respectively.

Apex is between Durham and Raleigh, IE between me and Slacker. It's actually just equidistant from us, but not between.

In any case, I live in southern Durham, which is fairly close to Apex, so there's a possibility that Slacker and I will both have to evacuate. More likely me, but probably not either.

This reminds me of something similar in South Africa i researched once. I forget what happened exactly but a lot of people died. Pretty sure a plant exploded and released masses of chlorine gas, but lacking the infrastructure to ensure an ordered evacuation...

Durham has 300,000 residents, and the Triangle has well over a million... so not entirely tiny

Apex is pretty small though, only around 30,000 residents, but it's hardly a real city

Besides, chlorine is the element they use to disinfect the pool, as well as kill/incapaciate enemy troops.
