guess not...i can't get it working with my 6800gt. the thing is, with this engine the jaggies are really bad without AA. is this gonna be fixed? it makes the game look seriously old and bad...

AA works for me. You have to enable it ingame, and have the driver options to application preference.

if i enable it ingame i get pinkscreen sometimes and it still looks jaggy. i have it set to application preference in options...

k i played around with it a bit more. if i set it to 6x AA it does not work....if i set it ingame or out it doesn't work. it does work with 2x and 4xm but it sure is lame that i have to do it ingame to get it to work...and its not that good..i can still see jaggies...

What resolution? A higher resolution can often make it look much better than a simple boost in AA.

i run at 1024. i wanna keep it there cuz i like my frames to stay above 80 at all times.

k messed around with it a bit more. i don't have to change it in game. it just doesn't work at 6x AA. anyone can't get it to work at 6x?

mmm try with the newest ...there is a lot of things who have been fixed
r those betas? cuz at nvidia.com the 61.77's r the newest offered...

Above 80!!!!! You really don't need that many frames. For games to run pretty smoothly, you only need about maybe 40. If you have 60 frames that's really good. 80 is kinda pointless. I think you should just try turning the resolution and see how much your frame rate drops. Keep going up until the frame rate drops to about 60 because that's all you need and it will be fine.

no man, i notice it when fps get around 60...i do feel the difference, so i wanna keep it above 80...thats just for mp..i can handle 40-60 in single play but thats short lived...once i finish i won't play it again most likely.

SMACK! your eyes must not be as good as mine then. I like vsync enabled and u can definately tell the difference between the "smooth" of 40 and the "smooth" of 80, if your monitors refresh rate gets high enough that is

P.S. Here's your sign...
P.S.S. Getting a BFG 6800gt oc to hold me over til my x800xtpe's get here, so I'll have to try the AA thing

yeah i personally like to sync everything at 125...but 80-100 will do...but i notice the difference between 80 and 120 as well...how can u not?

Only ATI can do 6XAA, Nvidia can only do 4x. Nvidia does have an 8X setting but it does multi-aliasing and kills your frame rate.

If you change settings while ingame you will see those purple effects.
You need to restart the game.

Up to 4xAA and 16xAF work on my 6800GT ingame. If you really wanted you could set it in the control panel but it's best to set it ingame if possible.

I can get anywhere from 40-120+ FPS at 1024x768 with 4xAA/8xAF in CSS. I personally enable Vsync with my 85Hz refresh rate so the game plays smooth.

AA works fine for me. I'm using the 66.81's with AA and AF on application preference. You can just run it on 1600x1200, it takes off some of the need for AA.

True but AA actually smooths edges rather than just making more smaller sharp edges. I guess it's hard to see the difference but AA generally takes less of a hit than higher resolutions.

it says the * is the preferred setting for ur system...but that good to know...i guess it looks alrite enuff at 4X...only lowered my frames by 9 or so...

1 dum question but i might no it when i see but whats "AA"? hehe

Monitor size is also a consideration. 1024 is the absolute minumum that looks good on my monitor (its um....large), and preferably it should be much higher.

well i am used to what 1024 looks like since i always play at that rez. no AA really looks bad on this engine comapred to other games...

What's special about this engine that makes jaggies worse? Are you telling me they actually render the edges of triangles differently in Source?

i'm not telling u anything dago..i am just saying the jaggies are more pronounced then other games...

hell u don't even need aa in d3

You do realise, all you would have to do is overclock the 6800gt a few mhz and you have a card that is equal to the x800xtpe? Didn't want you to "upgrade" needlessly that's all.

What do you mean, the jaggies are bad? Are you playing at 320x240?

I'm at 1280 with no AA and they're not noticeable...jesus people.

wow ur blind then...at that rez it's very noticeable...

jaggies are very noticable ingame, while you are moving especially.

Geforce cards do have a 6x mode, but it only antialiases vertical edges, horizontal edges will still be jaggy, and horizontal aliasing is what you see most. Personally with the 6800GT for best IQ and keeping frames above 50 fps all the time, it's a coin flip between 1280x960 with 8xS AA, or 1600x1200 with 4x AA. I go with the latter, textures are crisper at 16x12.
