So how much is this going to cost me? Veilside Rx7

Woops, worng forum. anyway, that looks pretty cool. :p

I don`t really know what your price range is, but I`d get a BMW M7 and this particular model has a really nice body kit and rims as well..i`d get rid of the spoiler tho or lower it at least but nonetheless it looks amazing:

Jesus christ, does that tail light setup ever look terrible.

The whole car looks like a fuggin Civic wannabe. Not a good thing.

Christ on a bike, that's hideous.

Despite what people in this topic are saying...there are body kits which are actually good-looking...usually by being subtle and complimenting the look of a car instead of announcing the mods to everyone.

Take a look at this for example:
http://forums.streetfire.net/showthread.php?t=25340

Or in the case of an RX-7:

But that Veilside kit...I actually like it personally, but get ready to be called a ricer by just about everyone.

And who the hell ruined that BMW?!(I'm not a big fan of the 7-series...but anyone who rices out German land-barges is automatically on my hate list)

it's not that bad at all actually. It's still the 7 series...it's not like the body kit masks the original body lol...only thing is the spoiler and the tags..woooo big deal the guy can get rid of that no problem if he doesn't like it.

Either way im just saying although i'm against body kits, that particular pic isn't over the top in looks like some loser tuners do to their cars out there.

Yeah...but the 7-series is a big executive luxury car. It's meant to look classy and elegant...not like some souped-up street racing machine. Plus, there's no such thing as a BMW M7...it's like those kids who stick a Type R sticker on a Honda Accord or something.

Now the Mercedes E63 AMG is a good example of a good bodykit on a luxury car:
9842-2007-Mercedes-Benz-E63-AMG.jpg

Once again...it compliments the look of the car without sticking out. It also helps that the E63 has crazy performance. :cheese:

So what if it's meant to be an executive luxury car? As you can see with the picture I posted, it sure as hell doesn't look like one with a body kit lol..

And that mercedes is pretty ugly...

You want a really good mercedes? Well if you're rich you can dish out $500,000 on a Merc SLR McLaren:

mercedes-benz-slr-mclaren.jpg

But for a more suitable price (but still sort of expensive) you can get a much better Mercedes than the E63....the C63 AMG:

mercedes_c63_amg_3396_12.jpg

And if you live in the UK..just wait another year and you can get one of the greatest cars ever built, the new Nissan GTR:

nissan_gtr_official1_034.jpg

this thing is better than the porche 911 only has a 3.8L engine super small compared to the E63's 6.2L...it costs around $50,000 way less than the E63 and it's just over all better than the merc and beamer

Lol...I'm not actually going to buy any super-expensive luxury sports cars...I was just providing an example of what a luxury body kit should look like. The point is, the 7-series you posted is rice...if not from the body kit and spoiler, then from the fact that it advertises itself as a non-existent model.

And shame on you for mentioning the GT-R and not the Corvette ZR-1:

lol yea, i heard about the new corvette coming out, but in terms of power, maneuverability, price and economy, the GTR is really the best way to go. Although I think the corvette has the most bad ass appearence i've ever seen on a sports car it just screams don't **** with me.

I'm sorry that I believe that there's such a thing as clean, subtle, and tasteful mods.

I usually call them boring, because they're too subtle. They completely lack creativity in that the change nothing (except going lower usually) versus the typical ripping eachother's shitty styles off.

It can be done though; it's just very rare.

How can you not love the beautifully extravagant design of classic American cars?

1956-Chevrolet-Bel-Air-blue-white-ma.jpg

That's just beautiful.

oh god...lol nothign about those cars are good. Power sucks, style is a joke/extremely ugly and no maneuverability what so ever. Also they're gas guzzlers. I can't see one good thing about those old cars.

Sure people can restore them and add massive amounts of HP...but so what? All american cars are good for is going fast in a straight line LOL...why can't they just learn from japanese and european car manufacturers? Seriously, american cars are almost always inferior by a LONGSHOT to jap and euro car makers.

Given the choice between a 68 Mustang Fastback and an RX-7, I think I know which I'd take.

I'm an American and hate American cars! Sadly, I've probably indirectly sold numerous American cars (including the Hummer H3) because of my line of current work (commercial 3D Automotive "Art").

Ever heard of the Ford Mustang, Dodge Charger, Chevy Camaro, etc the list goes on and on.

Seriously, that statement is just plain stupid. This + that pic of the BMW makes me question your taste in cars.

Those cars are good for what? straight line drag racing..ooohhh reallll useful. Look at most euro and jap cars, they're stylish, some are very powerful and they have really good maneuverability.

edit: just watch top gear then you'll maybe learn something. And for the record im not saying ALL american cars are shit, i'm just saying the majority of them are.

Power sucks,

Name me a '50s or '60s Japanese car that made the same amount of power. Or Euro car that didn't cost an arm and a leg for that matter.

style is a joke/extremely ugly

Wrong.

no maneuverability

They weren't made to be manueverable...they were made for cruising(both low and high-speed), interior space, and looking good. Besides, you think that BMW "M7" you posted is manueverable?

edit: just watch top gear then you'll maybe learn something.

I learned a long time ago that whenever the Stig's not involved, Top Gear is just a comedy show about cars and not really to be taken seriously.

Also they're gas guzzlers.

Keep in mind that fuel was dirt cheap when they were made, so fuel economy was adequate. And anyone who buys them nowadays hardly has practicality in mind.

Also, back then, Japan's car industry was nothing.

Most of what you say about modern American is true...when you're talking about 10 years ago. In GM's case at least, they've been making a lot of improvements on reliability, quality, looks, and handling(see new Corvette and Caddy CTS).

edit: just watch top gear then you'll maybe learn something.

Whenever the Stig's not involved, Top Gear is a comedy show about cars and not to be taken seriously at all.

yes top gear is jokes but they don't just spew out random bullshit. And either way american cars still can't even come close to the reliability, performance and efficiency of jap and euro cars today. And I am well aware about the cadillac CTS and the new corvette...as i said before, not ALL american cars are shit..just the vast majority.

You can go faster for SO so so so so SO much cheaper and reliably than that. Why add all that pointless plastic?

Akira - I've never ever had reliability problems with any American cars I've owned. General the drivetrains are bulletproof, albeit not as advanced as the euro and japanese stuff. I've owned TWO Toyotas and both have left me on the side of the road more than once. I've also owned a Pontiac and I own a Mustang now and neither have ever failed me. I also have to ask, when you see street racing going on, how often do you hear "OMG I PULLED 0.2G MORE THROUGH THAT CORNER THAN YOU!" (I'm not endorsing street racing). They're always linear races, and that's where American cars can kick some ass.

The entire idea of buying a japanese car, a body kit screams of "ricer" or what we call people like that in Finland "amis".

No matter what car you buy, what body kit you buy and even if you "tune" your car you will be a ricer, poser and an idiot. Only people interested in tuning cars will be interested in you or think that your car looks cool. It's not that it's bad looking, it's just that films like fast and the furious and games like NFS make everyone tuning or driving a tuned car look like idiots.

Building your own car? That's cool. Buying a car, bolting some plastic on it to make it "look cool" is not cool. Invest your monies, wait a few years and buy a cool cool looking car. Not a crap car and a bodykit to make it look cool.

I love you.

To be fair, a Mazda RX-7 is hardly a "crap car". It's just that instead of spending that money on a bodykit, you can use it to perform an LS1 swap instead.

why not go old school and buy a horse?

Theres no point swapping in an LS1 if your 13b-rew is working fine, rotary's can be fun little motors to play with. Hell if you really want, throw in a 20B and a GT42R and have some REALLLLLL fun.

LSx series motors in the most bad ass v8's EVAR built.

*Ding ding ding*

What do we have for him Johnny! Come on down!

405 Horsepower
400 Foot Pounds of Torque
7200 RPM Redline
28 Miles Per Gallon

ALL MOTOR

Lol, not to mention the new Supercharged LS9 makes 385 foot pounds of Torque at under 1,200 RPM and carries it all the way to 6,000

4,800 is a HUGE powerband!

This thread is overflowing with lulz. So many people with so little automotive knowledge. A stock RX-7 will pretty much blow anything anybody here drives into the weeds. Veilside is a highly respected tuner that does quite a bit of aerodynamic testing on their kits. Replacing the OEM steel panels with fiberglass is not going to do much to hinder performance. People who think that an FD RX-7 will be slow before or after this conversion are kidding themselves. It's a shame really that the Veilside car was featured in Tokyo Drift, because the kit was out for some time before the movie was made. Now it has a bad rep.

And since Asuka asked a simple question before this turned into a shitstorm, I'll give my opinion. Black outer panels with dark gunmetal grey midsection and door skins would look quite nice. Black and white looks classy too.

Although I agree that considering everything, Japanese cars are superior to American cars, as well as all other world manufacturers, but I cannot agree that the VAST MAJORITY of american cars are "shit". I believe the larger part of models produced by such manufacturers as Ford, Chrysler, Chevrolet, Dodge, Pontiac, Buick, Eagle, Shelby, Callaway, and Plymouth cannot be considered as "shit".

To sum it all up, yes, Japanese cars are most likely the world's best, which is evidenced by the fact that the Toyota Motor Corporation has the industry's highest net worth, revenue, and profit, although seriously, American cars really aren't as bad as you make them out to be, and I believe they are second only to Japanese cars.

I wouldn't say the LS motors are the best ever made, but they're definitely hella nice. The Ford Modulars can make some nice power, as can the new Hemi.

Your classic muscle car big blocks will put out way more power than any LSx motor (assuming all motor vs. all motor). Ford 427/428/429, Chevy 396/409/427/454, Mopar 413/440/ and of course the 426 Hemi.

The thing with Japanese cars, while they are reliable and fun to drive, so much of their power comes from the insane amount of technology in them. That's why I love the brute force an American V8 can put out. I may be (and most likely am) speaking out of bias, however.
