So how is it?

Is it worth the money?

Is it better than Battlefield2?

I'm thinking about buying it, but...

It's very good. Game looks beautiful, and really immerses you with a big European fantasy feel.

Yes, it's worth the money.

They are both special in their own ways. This game is nothing like BF2, so you really can't compare them.

****ING SUPER DUPER AWESOMENESS TO THE TENTH POWER. Does that answer your question?

Is it so good that I should spend my money on it and not have enough to buy Call of Duty 2?

Yes. COD2 might have a great singleplayer, but DoD:S has an AWESOME multiplayer. Bar none. Besides, DoD:S is only 20 bucks.

I would like the opinion of a regular Battlefield2 player. I find it difficult to take these opinions seriously, because I'm basing my decision on buying this on its comparison to BF2, which I play regularly.

I play battlefield 2 genius, i thought it was a good game, but DoD:S is mind blowingly good. mmmkay?

Hmm. Odd how you insist the game has pistols for every class, yet here you say you don't even have the game.

Anyway, it's nothing like BF2, and me and Cyberpitz play all the time. In DoD:S you re-enact WWII battles. In BF2, you create modern day warfare battles. In DoD:S, you're plopped into a setting and duke it out. In BF2, you pick the setting on a ginormouse map and fight freeform.

This game is nothing like BF2, yet is just as good as it.

Except you dont have to drive a jeep for 10 minutes to get to the fight...

i can see dod getting much more playtime over the next few months than bf2. i really just am not excited for bf2 anymore. and yes, i do play it regularly, but not so much anymore.

Listen, DOD:S is has EXTREMLY intense fire fights in a somewhat small level, BF2 is more open ended, but whenever you get into a fire fight the other person always dives to the floor, i dont think i ever get into a standing up fight. So if you want an intense game, get dods, if you want a big, freeroaming game, stick with bf2. Because as they say, size doesnt matter.

The dolphin-diving combat is awesome :) You must do it yourself if you want to win. Makes you feel very maneuverable, like you can throw your body-weight around, and increases accuracy, making it a groovy aspect of combat.

Back to DoD, is it a game about territory, or flags, or squads, or what? Are there vehicles, or is the flow more like an old-fashioned CS, but where you don't necessarily spawn as a team?

Hmm. Kinda seems like you're bashing the game.

Anyway, it's a BF2 style game. Get as many people to a flag and sit there for a while to cap it, then move on to the next flag.

There are no vehicles, yet this is nothing like CSS. It's built more around outdoors combat and teamwork. Unlike CSS, the small enviroments and huge differences between classes forces you to work as a team, which is really great (wish BF2 was more like that).

more like band of brothers than bf2

You mean Brothers in Arms?
everyone mixes that up lol

But Dario, it seems like you probably won't enjoy it that much, unless you're a sucker for purty graphics and immensely detailed maps...

Just needs some darker maps.

Imagine the lighting! *salivates*

compared to Call of duty, without thinking of graphics! I mean the gameplay. Can u peek around corners with q and e, can u use melee? How does it compare?

I just want gameplay... :)

Well I had never played the original DOD, so I downloaded DOD:Souce last night & I love it!

It's quick, smooth, looks gorgeous & is really well balanced.

For me it's like a cross between Return to Castle Wolfenstein & COD!!

Exellent game, especially for £12!!!

Is it respawn or played by round...? Do a lot of people have voip..? Are we going to get pwned if we didn't play the original DoD? Is there music? When you say the maps are "small", how small are they? Like CS?

I hate to have a million questions, I just wish people would post a little more in depth, rather than one or two lines about it.

em...read some reviews?

Nah I'll answer your quests.

-You respawn within 5-15 seconds of every death, until the round is won (all flags captured), then round restarts...
-sure why not
-Possibly, if your pc sucks or if you've never played an fps before, but you'll get the hang quickly
-music? uh...when you win a round music plays for either Germans or US...so yes?
-Maps are a tad bigger than most CS maps.

You respawn on a timer. Kinda like Dystopia, except sans the whole thing where it docks the timer back up so when somebody dies, so you spawn as a team.

I have never heard anybody using Voip for teamplay purpouses, but if you have a mic, you'll be an ESSENTIAL asset to your team. I used to play DoD with my mic, and i'd be the one issuing all the commands, and we'd pwn completely. Somebody would tell me to shut up, I shut up, and we start losing.

If you have a mic, everybody will assume that you're the team leader. I know for myself that being 10, and hearing people praise you for your excellent commanding skills, rather than dock you for your high voice, was a great feeling :)

You will start getting PWND MAJOR if you haven't played DoD. After maybe an hour though, you'll understand it all. Not very complex, but it's unique enough to warrant a little time to understand it.

They're small, as in, a single battle in BF2 small. You know how in BF2, you'll be capping the base when the other team storms with their tanks, and a 2 hour fight breaks out over the one point? It's like that. Imagine a single BF2 skirmish, sans the tanks, and much more intense and intricate.

Thanks for the info guys. Surprisingly, I've had a hard time finding a post release review of DoD. Everything I've read was a preview and didn't go into much depth as far as gameplay... other than to say it's like the original DoD, source engine, HDR, etc etc.

NJSpeed, how are you finding your x-fi sound card?

Sorry for slight off-topic...

DoD > The god of gods.

Providing you get to see it in its glory and play at great frames! ( Plays excellent on my x700 but the system in sig is coming end of week.) I cant get enough of mentioning the pc im about to wrap my arms around haha.
