People who get access to CS:S it will zip the file up and put it out on the internet, so everyone will be playing it right up untill release.
ShadowFox said:Too bad this is CS were talking about, and every one of the 11 year old "l33ts" will email a list of 1000 things to change. If anything, this will probably push HL2 even further because they will be dealing with things like "omg get rid of the shield!".

Even if its not on servers, just running around by yourself or on LANs.
DiSTuRbEd said:See there is a wonderful part to this, if you ask most kids under 16 or so, they usually have shitty pc's with shitty graphic cards. So thus they will quit playing when they can't run it at "100fps"
Amen! That chart describes exactly how I feel about Half-Life 2. Valve ****ed up. They'd have gotten alot more money releasing it with a higher price at september 2003, than releasing it at a lower price in august. I am sure it will be a lower price than intended, due to loss of interest.Moto-x_Pat said:Except for the fact that Valve promised that HL2 and all Source conversions would be realeased at the same time. Kind of puts a damper on the whole Summer thing huh? I lose interest every day. Every single day that I don't have HL2, I lose a small amount of interest.
OH and by the way, I'm not mad at Valve.. We've all waited a year and it's getting frustrating. I just want the game now. I have a lot of respect for Valve, but you know...we are all tired of waiting.
Silent- said:I didn't read ALL the posts in this thread, I'm lazy. But anyway, I think CS:S is a good way to check the netcode and the source engine in multiplayer environment since CS is a popular game and everybody would like to get their hands on it (I know I would).
as for warez versions, yeah that's inavitable (typo?).
And valve could simply solve it by letting legal owners of an HL copy to get CS:S.

DiSTuRbEd said:Ummmm you can pass around the zip file but that won't help, I've tried with my CZ copy and my cuz's steam, its attached to the account, so it will be able to tell who can play it and who can't.

Or maybe this increases anticipation?

BTW, where did anyone read this "two weeks" thing? I'd like to know.. I haven't seen this anywhere
Edit:
The most interesting information in today’s exhibition is that the beta-testing of CS:S is approaching soon. Joon-Kyung Shin, from Stylenetwork, stated that "After two weeks, valve will open the surprising beta test of CS:S to the public.", adding "the beta testing will be over two-week after it begins."

Agreed. Though you can guarantee hordes of people will bitch that they spent money on CZ and only got 2 weeks of CS:S!!!CrazyHarij said:Hmm.. Buying CZ for two weeks of CS:S.. Nah :|
