I think a DS appreciation thread is in order \o/

At the moment i'm greatly enjoying Sawaru! Made in Wario. (Whoever thought milking cows and unrolling toilet paper could be so much fun? :)) Infact, this is the only game that can tear me away from Mario 64 DS. Sure, the controls will never match the N64 pad, but the thumb strap does the job just fine. And what a game - years after release it can still match the best and most recent titles around.

(a remake of OoT and Majora's Mask would also be very welcome too. They might as well do Goeman while they're at it)

The future line up seems to be getting stronger every day, and Yoshi's Touch and Go is out on the 14th \o/

*hugs DS*

(if you get the chance, try Band Brothers with some friends - great fun)

I agree Wario Ware.....NOW.

The DS is great, great, great.

I hope the Ocarina of Time remake is true. That will be a true gem on the DS. Castlevania looks great. Advanced Wars....Red Alert 3.....the new Super Mario Bros.....GoldenEye....AHHHHHHHH.

Anywho. We've not yet seen the true potential of this handheld. Mario 64 is a port for the most part so it looks no better than Ocarina of Time on the GC. The pics of Ray Man and this game called Lost in Blue look incredible...on par with the PSP for the most part. The future is bright for the most innovative handheld ever.

I have one. I only have a Super Mario for right now. Nothing really interests me yet. I'm waiting for the innovative RPGs and RTS games. Is WarioWare out? It looks very strange, fun, but then again, it could be boring.

I have one, getting banged up in my backpack. Tough little bugger. I need the rts games coming out.

Wario Ware out is out soon in the US. I picked a copy up from Japan - and it's beyond insane :)

While very enjoyable, it's best played in short bursts (the ideal title for gaming on the move) Very simple and addictive stuff - everyone i've shown it to has fallen in love with it.

I've had a DS since Christmas, I really bought it for Animal Crossing and Advance Wars but seeing as I never played MArio 64 I thought I'd get one asap.

I love the touchscreen and everyone I've shown it too has been quite impresed by it.

MEMEMEMEMMEMEMEMEMEM Vigilante has a DS. I ordered Daigasso! Band brothers last night. I can't wait for it.

This seems almost like a "Who has an NGage?" question, no real responses, maybe that says something

I tryed a DS, there not out here yet, but the guy at EB had one.

It felt very cheap and tacky... dont know why, thats just the impression i got. guy i know at vodafone stall has a psp and just the feel of it was so much better.

Im not flaming the DS or anything but thats the impression i got... PSP felt like a much more stable product.

I don't mind the build quality. The screens are decent and the touch screen works exceptionally well. The PSP does feel very solid, though, and looks far sexier.

What I do enjoy about the DS are the new features and games out at the moment. You'll also find that many people who buy a DS aren't doing so because they want a handheld, but because they want to experience something unique. That and the fact it's a Nintendo console - which guarantees some great titles and a level of polish not found anywhere else.

What rubbish.

I think the massive sales and many 1000's of happy customers says more ;)

The DS is already a big success. If anything the lack of response says more about your average pc gamers interest in Nintendo products - which is hardly suprising.

Ohh just to clarify, when i said cheap and tacky... i just ment in comparison to the psp. not saying it was cheap and tacky. it does look like a good machine... and no doubt my brother will get one for his b'day and a i shall "borrow" it. :p

The PSP has a serious problem with sticking buttons as well as a rather annoying dead pixel issue. So it may look sexy, but looks aren't everything. Just do a google search for it....you'll find plenty of links.

Just add this to the list of shit Sony has flat out said they don't care about. I swear to god I read somewhere that Sony said "we don't care about the button issue"...no joke. This company is batshit crazy at times. For ****s sake, you can cook eggs on some of those PS2 slims they get so hot. They got some quality work to do. Funny, they're going down a road so many companies with extensive success in an industry have gone down...and they're making the same mistakes. They honestly don't care. I could tell Nintendo that I shit on my DS and threw it against the wall...."OK sir, let us handle that for you....you'll have a new one in a week".

Let me know when I can buy it for less than $200 and they work a lot of these ridiculous issues out. Until then, it ain't worth $250.

The DS is just so confusing to me. I played with one in the store, and the touch control for Metroid Prime: Hunters just seemed a little... odd, and the 3D graphics were not very impressive to me either.

Then I was on a field trip and I spotted some guy playing with a DS. He was playing the Mario 64 DS minigame in which you have to connect vertical lines to each other to get a Mario head to fall into a star, as I recall. Suddenly, this guy became the center of a gravitational vortex and everyone was sucked in, asking to try. It was at that moment that I decided that I needed a DS.

But then I got cold feet again, and began to worry about the gimmicky-ness of it. I have very bad memories, you see, of the failed GBA-GCN connectivity, and how it was billed as more than a gimmick, but was only used to its fullest potential in the Four Swords.

So I still don't have one. And this is my story.

Buy one from Target or Wal-Mart....take it back if you hate it. Practice the touchscreen on MP:H....don't want to open a game because I don't think they'll take it back.

It's legit IMO...far from a gimmick. Sonic DS looks incredible.

I like the DS, but the only decent game out there is Super Mario DS. Warioware is gonna be awesome, among other games.

Maybe wait untill a few more titles are out Narcolepsy.

I have little doubt that enough quality games will be released to make the DS a worthy purchase.

I also agree about Metroid not looking amazing (this is just a tiny N64 at the end of the day :)) - but the controls impressed me massively (which method were you using btw?)

All in all, Mario 64 alone has made this worth while for me. It's my all time favourite game - and sometimes it's hard to believe that this wonderful gameworld exists on these two tiny screens (I feel like a giant holding something really precious)

I am a MASSIVE Castlevania fan, so I bought it pretty much for the Aria of Sorrow sequel...and wario Ware. I picked it up with Mario 64 and adored that, and I never really played my N64 version =P I love the DS, it's definately the most innovative piece of hardware in years. Once again Nintendo scores big for innovation. Speaking of which, I was looking at Mario Party 6 yesterday, you know it comes with a microphone? A few of the videogames are mic based and apparently the minigames change depending on the time of day. I really like how Nintendo use the time of day in games, the other current gen consoles all have internal clocks but there isn't a use for them. At least Nintendo use every little detail of the hardware when they make games.

:) Animal Crossing had be waking up at silly hours to go on treasure hunts and parties. In the end I had to sell it - logging on to spend Christmas with you 'best riend' (who happens to be a dog) instead of your family is not right.

If they bring Body Harvest out on the DS I think I may just buy five.....
