Some pics of far cry running on my rig....

I refuse to upgrade to play this peace-of-crap game.

Wow, tech help in the general gaming fourm... ;)

It sounds like you have a HP computer. So I doubt that they put quality RAM in your computer. Anyways, to find out if you motherboard is dual channel capable I need to know the model number of your motherboard. To find that, go to start, run and type "dxdiag." It should list your motherboard model. Listing your system specs would be helpful to.

As for RAM timings, the motherboard will automatically change its timings to make both RAM sticks happy. That means if you buy a stick of 2-2-2-5 RAM, it will actually run at 3-3-3-8 which would be a gigantic waste of money. Try and find a stick of RAM that is close (if not the same) CAS timings.

If you bought your computer through HP, I would see what they are charging for another 512 RAM. If their prices are competitive to newegg.com, I would go with whatever HP is trying to sell you (since you know it is compatable, etc). If HP prices are not competitive, go to your motherboards website and see what RAM is compatible with your motherboard. Then go to newegg.com, find the RAM and purchase it.

You can! I removed all the left brackets at the beginning of the close/open tags so you can copy it if you want :)

All pictures was at 1280x1024 6xAA/16x AF max settings in-game using X800pro  My cpu bottlenecks my gfx card though so my fps are'nt that high but not bad considering the AA/AF :p

I dont believe the thread starter can get 60 - 70 fps on 1600x1200 with ANY AA/AF or on max settings using a 9800XT.

I really want a new graphics card now. Me thinks that if I had better graphics I would enjoy the game more.

You should have just called this thread "Watch me show off my ub3r l33t mecheen, MUAHAHAH you all must bow to the l33t!!!"

Is there a way to get a fps counter in Far Cry without using Fraps?

Whats your CPU AliG?? i was thinking of getting a X800xt pro - and was wandering how much of a bottle neck an Amd 3000+ would be. If it is can i lower the resolution and raise the AA to compensate?? Its not a crappy processor, but not best you can get. Im hanging on to it until the PCIe platforms have matured a bit.

Its an AMD2.6XP oc'ed @ 2.2ghz (so basically its an AMDXP 3200+)

The game is very much playable at the settings im running it on them screens (6xAF/16xAA)...but i use 4xAF 8xAA normally so it is very playable, even if i used 1600x1200 ress.

Edit/ I know my cpu bottlenecks it but the X800 is still a beast of a gfx card capable of playing any game at highest settings highest AA/AF settings (well, optimized engines)

Edit 2/ I have 1 gb DDR400 as well, farcry likes memory alot.

uziholda you want a cock battle about far cry shots, let me get my 3000+ in, then it shall begin, I project the X800 Pro the winner though ;P

Nice specs though, me love!

:) lol

at that resolution, the edges are so sharp you dont need 6xAA . :naughty:

lower resolutions and higher AA settings work much nicer I think. blends stuff together better.

and isnt so harsh on the eyes :O,, and you get a better frame rate.. but I guarantee that 16x AF is whats sucking the frame rate down.

Alig, bottleneck on a 2.2ghz XP isn't that bad, on my 2600+ when I went to 2.1ghz I gained about 10-15fps from 2ghz, so I mean bottleneck should almost be gone at 2.2ghz. :E

ty very much, not to mention, everything in my comp is overclocked,i have neon tubes in my case and i using a thermaltake case got about 14 fans and a glass window at side, looks awesome, and plays awesome, just gotta get some better ram and im set

For the last time (okay, I only said it once):

uziholda is NOT getting 60-70 FPS on a Radeon 9800XT at 1600x1200 at ultra high details no matter his machine.
Go look at X800 XT/6800 benchmarks, those don't even get anywhere NEAR that at that resolution.

did i say that? lol oh yeah i did *slaps forehead doe*

na i cant,i get 25-30 fps at that res,but any other lower res i can mostley get 60-70,

Well I get 100 FPS, beat that! :naughty:

oh wait...that's at 640 x 480.

LOL^ :) yes 640x480 has always been the how can i say this, the benchmark of the future lol

just pullin ya leg ;)

I get 3 fps at 16x12 resolution. Not 1600x1200, just 16x12.

I get 40-50 fps on "Black D's in White Chicks" with 1280x1024

I'm running a

AMD Athlon 1.2GHz (whatever number that is, like 1600 or something)
512 RAM
Geforce 2 Ultra 64mb
40gb HD

Woot woot, beat that hoes!

I know it isnt slowing it down to 5200FX speeds but i know it isnt performing anywhere near what it would if i had an A643000+ or higher in.

I get :

200 flyby
67 botmatch
1024x780 ress on ut2004 retail benchmark

Ive seen people on their that get (well the best one is FSBmed - or something) get around :

300flyby
105 botmatch
1024x780 ress on ut2004 retail benchmark

_using a 9800XT_ obviously overclocked somewhat

Though his cpu is something like 4.4ghz @ like -20c and his machine is ****ing beasty (was rank 3 in the world on 3Dmark2003) but still...i expected at least 80 in botmatch even with my cpu because the X800pro doubles the 9800XT almost and is still one hell of an improvement over it even if the 9800XT is overclocked to gods end.
