Here are some valuable music tools & stuff that I have aquired over the years:
1. dBPowerAmp - converts audio from .OGG, .MP3, .WAV, .MPEG, .WMV (rip audio from videos
), and more. The best thing - it's freeware unless you get the powerpack.
2. Media Player Classic, Quick Time Alternative, and Real Alternative (not really audio - but check it out).
3. Earth's Special Forces (Half-Life Mod) - esf1.mp3, esf2.mp3 = some of best MP3s that I have heard from a computer game mod since the Unreal Tournament mod "Return to Na Pali".
4. Unreal Tournament 2004 - good audio (convert OGGs to MP3s w/ dBPowerAmp)
