We all are expecting that HL2 will be a great game. The reviews are giving us much hope.

So when it comes out and we all have played it, it is inevitable that some fanboys will start whining about it. Saying that it sucked, or this wasn't in it, or this was in it but shouldn't have been. I just want to give a pre-emptive "shh" to those fanboys that can never be satisfied.

The only thing i'm worried about is people whining about how it looks on there pc's. Everyone should be prepared with the right hardware if not ohh well, on the other hand lots of people could care less about graphics as long as the gameplay is there. No not me im a graphics person evan though i dont have the best card i think i can handle hl2 pretty well .

It's bound to be a letdown, because in my head it's going to be amazing - ALL THE TIME. I'm trying not to be hyped, but I am. And the waiting is the best bit anyway - I think it went downhill from gold, really.

Still, I upgraded for this last year, so at least I'm setup.

I built mine in January. I had to get a new one or my head would have exploded. I got a middle of the road (Jan 04) graphics card because I did not want to spend a lot on one at the time. My previous computer was an HP PIII 733mhz, onboard video 16Mb, 384 MB PC 133 memory, 40 GB HDD. *embarassed* I was just glad to get a PC I could game with.

I'm afraid I don't understand where you're coming from with this post.

1) What missing content? Unless you played the unmentionable thing, then how would you know what was missing in the first place - and if anyone did, then they deserve any disappointment they might feel.

2) What slightly dated feel with the physics system? What other games recently have implemented physics as effectively as Half Life 2 and made them an integral part of the story rather than a "cool add-on". Yes, Far Cry and Max Payne 2 had nice physics but it wasn't a key element of the storyline/gameplay as it is in Half Life 2. Every reviewer has mentioned physics so far - that wasn't present with Far Cry or Doom 3.

3) I have no idea what this means

I'm not trying to slam your post - but I'm not too sure your basis for these concerns :naughty:

Yes, people will whine.. but I sure as hell wont. I'm doing my best not to expect too much. Part of a mind blowing experience is having it suprass your expectations. If you're expecting this to happen, or for it to be the best damned thing in the world, you're shooting yourself in the foot because even if it lives up to the hype, it just wont seem as amazing.

They key to enjoying HL2 will be to clear your mind, forget everything you know, and just play it.

Of course some are just not capable of this.

Untill about maybe june of 04 I was rollin with the original RADEON 64mb Anyway I really hope that HL2 dosent become the next Doom3 imo at least. I was EXTREMELY dissipointed with D3, it got so booring, but maybe thats due to the fact that im a heartless bastard?

All i know is that if my comp cant run it (9800 pro card) then i will quite literally go mad with severe anger, and i will grab my biggest flying cow and head straight to the nearest store (depends on which one the voices want me to go to) and steal a uber sweet comp.
