There's something that nihilanth says that really implies the fact that gman is an alien.

"You are man, he is not man. For you he waits, for you"
to be exact.

Has anyone discussed this very sentence before, or is it "new" ? It can be found in the hl pak0.pak file.
It's called "nil_man_notman.wav"

This was in an old thread WAY back. :cheese:

I think this was in an old info/speculation thread... Can't find it though. :bonce:

Yea, this was discussed on an old HL board I used to attend, some years ago. But I came to remember it today, and figured it could be of interest again.

I heard that last night for the first time! i cant believe I never heard it the last 50 times I beat the game.

How can it be a lady when it says "For he waits, for you"

it means the gman is an alien...in the words of "lil sis", "thats it and thats all"

Was this from the origional HL? What part of the game is it said, and who says it?

when you are in xen...when you played HL1...you never heard any of the nih's mumblings? go play hl1 single player again...i did right after e3.

I think almost every dedicated HL fan did :>

I also played blueshift and op4 again. Finished all three games within 5 days. hehe

i gotta get a copy of blue shift...havent played that yet.

edit: i heard blue shift ends when gordon goes into the dark room and the grunts knock him out....so i guess it starts a little bit b4 gordon gets to black mesa?

Just good to refresh my memory and to get into the feel again.

is there english hidden amongst this?

hey! gotta ask u guys one thing, a few years ago, something really weird happened when i was installing my HL. It started speaking, some file or whatever it was, for some reason just started. and there were a few people talking. it was so weird...anybody know what the hell happened???? (maybe its a bit off topic, but rather this then making a new threah)

Dont know what youre talking about. But kanarico, I think blue shift is a game worth buying. Might be just a tad short :p but its a valid part of the trilogy and the game itself is really good.

It shows more experience with the hl engine than the previous titles.

azmodan, that's scary :x

I remember when I first plugged my 5.1 speakers, I started hearing some soldiers talk....... "ALPHA DELTA GAMMA" something like that... I got scared like hell

yeah, got scared like hell!!!

haha, understand that ure scared.

One time when i was playin a demo of some duke nukem game a long time ago, it froze and it started saying stuff from the different games on the disc in slow motion. it was wierd cause it sounded demonic.

Use a program that can open pak files, ie. pakexplorer.

lol listen to all the gman_***.wav in the pak0.pak... damn he really sound like a ****ing alien

I get the impression both Nihilanth and the G-Man were done by the same voice actor.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

"You are man, he is not man. For you he waits, for you"
to be exact.
sounds like a bible quote

A lot of people are inclined to believe that the line "You are man...he is not man. For you he waits, for you," is evidence of the G-Man's extraterrestrial origin. Most people, having never heard Nith speak the line in the game, only hearing it while browsing the pak0.pak file, assume that it must've been something left out to keep the G-Man's secret exactly that, until HL2 or HL3. Fact is, Nith says it when he teleports you away from him for the fourth time.

I discovered this while playing through HL again recently, like most other people did when news of HL2 came out. I'd never heard Nihilanth say the line before, having killed him quickly and with only one teleportation incident my first time playing the game four years ago, but I was so dead tired after an almost two-nighter of HL that I kept forgetting to dodge his teleport projectiles. Fourth time that thing hit me, he sent me to the third area again. But this time, who should be waiting for me to fall from the sky into his fiery claws? The Gargantua. A Garg was standing around, watching me fall from the air right onto a bounce pad. The Garg is definately not a man, but he was definately waiting for me.

Thus, I believe that this is what Nith was speaking of. G-Man may have a funny way of talking but I don't think he's an alien. Maybe he's just really theatrical with his speech?

I think "You are man, he is not man. For you he waits, for you" means that the G-man is not a man. He's a woman!=)
