I havent been around lately, i had gotten bit by a Brown Recluse spider the other day. i had to go to the hospital because it is very, very posionious, the story behind this was that my dad had just killed one and my mom wanted me to move a cinder block, i was very uncertain about the situation considering that my dad had just killed one, but none the less she is going to buy me a nice car, instead of getting the car that i made a thread earlier about (you senior members should remember, if not whatever) she got my brother a firebird, so i went to pick it up and i felt a little sting in my middle toe, and the story behind that is i wear a size 15 (american) shoe and i couldnt find my work shoes so i got a pair of socks and some flip-flops (although not fashionably in, it saved my life), so i went on working for a few hours and when i took my socks off my toes had been burning and sting for awhile. "Initially, the bite may feel like a pinprick or go unnoticed. Some may not be aware of the bite for 2 to 8 hours. Others feel a stinging sensation followed by intense pain." source. so i went to the hospital immediately and they said that i certainly did have a Brown Recluse bite, but i will get better because the socks that i wore.

so, i will be able to play BF2 with you guys really soon, i just have to keep my leg propped up for awhile and what better way to spend it on the computer. the good part about the bite is that i get to take STEROIDS!!

Damn... I read about the brown recluse and it's seriously scary. Did it leave a mark... or is it no more than a bite protected by your sock?

one of its fangs got through, barely though. so it left a little bump were it punctured, but it still feels like someone is trying to set my toes on fire.

I'm never taking my socks off. Even though those spiders aren't around in this country. I hope :)

Hey, least you get a nice shiney new car and get to sit at the computer all day :) It's not so bad if you think about it ;)

did you go back to the spider, point and shout "HA, you tried to kill me but failed!" ?

Mannn, that's scary. Spiders should be shot.

My mum's friend bought a plant from Marks & Spencer once, then it died suddenly about a day later. She phoned them wondering what was up, and they told her to leave her house and stay with a neighbour. A few hours later a fumigation team turn up at her house. Turns out a Black Widow female had killed the male, and it's dead body had killed the plant. They found the female under her wardrobe in her bedroom and I think it had eggs.

Damn spiders.

This seems like the perfect time to mention that I have a small fear of being bitten on the balls by spiders hiding on the underside of my toilet seat.

Jesus christ, that is insane! Aren't female black widow spiders among the most deadly in teh world??!!

EDIT: I used to be pretty scared of smallish spiders until I went to texas to stay with my cousin for a month. While i was there I came across a few bigish spiders, the signature spider, i think was one of them. Any it was pretty big, about the size of my hand, and now I'm totally fine taking large-ish house spiders outside, so I suppose I have kinda overcame my fear of spiders!

Why is that good? O_O

Didn't relise so many people on this forum don't like spiders... I'm one of you people too :(

im not necessarily afraid of spiders, but when they surprise me it scares the hell out of me

Pretty funny, me and ailevation was talking about the brown recluse spider and the camel spider at school recently.

Shits really scary, and I've seen the result of the bite, looks like it hurt.

Good to hear you're ok.

I'm in Texas so we have Brown Recluses, Black Widows, Banana Spiders (bigass yellow and black pieces of shit. They look disgusting), and scorpions. Ick. The scorpions aren't poisonous, but my family tells me they hurt like hell. Never been stung or bitten, and I don't plan on it any time soon.

That reminds me, I was exploring our 74 acres once, and I came accross a hornet's nest. They started riling up, and I saw a fuzzy black mass become bigger, and start coming toward me. I never ran that fast in my life, and my legs hurt for two days :)

My father, when he first moved down to southern Missouri from Nebraska, found a scorpion..killed it, and put it in a baggy, and keeps it hung up on his desk. Pretty cool, yet creepy...

Me and a friend were screwing around with a bee nest. He was shooting it with water, and I had a stick. He was drenching them all down, so I thought, babies..this will be fun!! *Throw stick* Before it even hits the damn hive, 5 bees latch onto my face, and sting me. I never ran/cried/tripped/got bloody nose/cried some more/ran harder in my life.

I've only ever been stung by a bee (or anything related) once in my life, when I was 8, and I stepped on it. Sorry about your bee incident :) How big is the scorpion?

Heh, it's getting colder down here, and we've been laying poison around the perimeter of the yard and house to keep out the remaining scorpions (it usually keeps out most of them, even in the Summer) and yesterday, I went to the sink to put my glass down, and one had come up the sink, it was clinging to the side around the little metal cross. I said aloud "You've got to be shitting me" then proceded to spray it with some poison and wash it down. Some funky stuff happens on this ranch.

I hate banana spiders...

They needed a fumigation team to take care of a black widow? I see black widows all the time, unless this was in a country that they didn't have black widows, and needed to deal with it?

Hmmm....I feel sorry because you had to indure that, but the spider looked awesome!
