Sorry to do this again but hoefully it will be the last time

I need a new graphics card to play BF2. I want to spend about £130 on the card as I'm spending £135.88 on Memory,Headset ,Mouse,Wristband and BF2

I know I want a Nvidia card. But I don't know if I should get a 6600gt or a 6800le as they seem to be a simliar price. Also what company would be better? XFX or leadtek or Gigabyte?

I have a 300watt PSU but I don't think that it could handle a 6600gt or a 6800le card so I think I need to upgrade. I dont want to spend more than £35 for one.

This one

Is 500watts and is £13. In one of the reviews it comments on the amps on each rail. Maybe if I don't buy the mouse then i have about £65 to spend on a PSU, but I really do want the mouse.

So do I buy this or something else?

Thanks for all your help :cheers:

P.S Is girotech.com a good site?

LOL without the power supply and the "6800 gt" the mouse is not that important.Maybe another stick of 512 mb ddr ram would help to.

300watts will do fine unless u dont have 2 hardrives or anything like taht but u should get a 500watt and y r u spending that much on a mouse

Mouse is £32. That does not seem like much for a great mouse

6800GT is great, supposedly if u OC it to Ultra speeds it runs better than a stock ultra since I guess it has better memory timings.

Thing is I cant afford a 6800gt. WE are talking about a 6600gt or a 6800le

6800le is a better deal or is it the same as the 6600 gt i forget

I believe that teh 6600GT is a better card, but I'm not totally sure.

Ohhhh jesus don't buy a cheap power supply. Everything will go boom :|

Well, not exactly. But it's still a terrible idea.

Get yourself a Tagan, Antec or Enermax PSU - they'll be expensive, but worth it.

With regards to the card, an nVidia LE is much the same as an ATi SE
Get the 6600GT. I'd recommend XFX, as they generally are a very good brand.

Hope I've helped!

And I would say, don't get a Gigabyte video card.

They're great cards [gigabyte's], in fact I have one (which is why i'm saying not to get one) and the thing is, with my card, gigabyte disabled the driver level temperature monitor, so I was forced to use the resource hogging Vtuner to check my temps. Rivatuner won't even recognize that my card, a 6800GT (great card btw. If you can, try to shell out the extra moolah for it) has a temperature probe.

So as of now, i'm searching the web trying to find out which hex entries I need to change in my bios, so I can reflash the damn card (gigabyte has a flash utility though so there's at least one good point bout the card) and re-enable the temperature monitor.

Oh and yeah, i'd say 6600gt. Great cards for the money I hear.

I've got me a 6600GT, and it's never done me wrong.. OCs nicely on air as well :)

Both of those come heartily recommended.

I own both an 'Extreme Gamers Edition' of the XFX 6600GT and a Tagan 480W power supply. I must say both perform very very very well :)

So I can unlock the pipes on the 6800le to a max of 16, what kind of temperture will the card go up to?

The 6800 has 12 pipes. The 6800le only has 8. So I doubt you could unlock 16 pipes from a 6800le. If you want to spend a little more and get a 6800 and try it you can, but last time I checked the rate of success on the cards was low.

Ok I'll just stick with the XFX 6600gt.

Edit: What would happen if I tried the XFX 6600gt on my normal PSU? Would there be a chance of damaging the card or other items if the PSU is not able to supply the 6600gt with power?

Edit2:Would this be a good idea to buy or should i just get it from here ?

No it wouldn't damage the card. What would happen pretty much is if you tried to play a game the game would crash or something because that's when the card really needs the power. I would get the Tagan power supply you linked. Then I would recommend getting the XFX 6600GT from Ebuyer unless you don't mind buying from Ebay, but that one is used and with Ebay of course anything could happen.

Why Ebuyer? Is there something wrong with the one from girotech?

Ebuyer generally are cheaper.. but with them it's a bit of a risk.. I've had some very bad experiences with them.

Basically go with a company you feel comfortable ordering from :)

Like what? I odered a mp3 off ebuyer and it got here fine and on time

Oh I thought the one you linked was Ebuyer, my mistake. Nothing wrong with Girotech.

Would I be right in saying that griotech seem to be a new online store?

I haven't heard of it before so I'm not sure, I've been out of the loop for a while so if it is new I don't know how new. I would bet that it's safer to buy there than from Ebay though. :D

Go with newegg. Quick, simple, cheap shipping, and it's fast. They might not be as cheap as some retailers, but their customer service and shipping is really good. Customer service guy let me add 5 things to my order the day it was supposed to be shipped, and I got everything except for my case, 2 days after the order. Case was comming from Tenesse, as well as a molex.

He's in the UK.

:p

I'd suggest www.overclockers.co.uk - personal preference .. but I think Ebuyer are cheaper :)

After reading this . It comments about its best to have the memory running at 400mhz not 200mhz for BattleField 2. By using CPU-Z and Everest, I have determind that my memory is running at 200mhz. So how do I get the memory to run at 400mhz?

DDR400 = 200MHz
DDR333 = 166MHz
DDR266 = 133MHz
DDR200 = 100MHz

Your memory is fine. CPU-Z lists the real MHz not the rating (DDR = Double Data Rate).

DDR rating is your megahertz times two, because it's Double Date Rate ram, or DDR ram.

EDIT: Haha. I just realized what double date rate sounds like.
