I'll play single player for along time until i start getting tired of it or start getting stuck at places or puzzles, then i shall try the multiplayer side.
 
back and forth...

I most likley will like both as i did with HL1...
 
I never liked SP - it's far more interesting to play with real ppl then with AI. The only SP I enjoyed playing was in Deus Ex.
 
SP thoughout, then MP provided my 56K can handle it. :)
if not, I hope their wonderous AI is impemented in the form of MP bots... :)
 
Weird .. about a month ago we had a very similar poll and "SP Only" was almost unanimous. I guess the people changed around here.
 
i'll play SP first then play MP. SP is going to kick ass
 
MP is more challenging 'cause you're going up against real people who think more advance than bots and have skill.

I myself plan to stay away from MP after a month or so. Why? Cause I'm rather sick of actual strategy and skill needed to win in CTF or Domination or whatever being replaced by "Who can camp the most heavily armed guys outside the other's team's spawnpoint first!"
 
If you play MP you would immideately discover all the new weapons, models, etc. That will basically ruin SP for you.
 
I'm definitely playing SP first then I've finished it... it's on to MP and mods :woot:
 
MP more challenging? I never really thought of MP as a challenge. You win you lose, you don't feel like you've gained or lost anything.

In SP you have goals, etc. When your low on life it REALLY gets the blood pumping.

MP, "Oh, low on life and they just took my flag" TAB "Suicide" spawn in your base and head after the flag carrier. Death has no feeling in an MP game..

well..maybe thats just me, but SP just always appeals to me more.

Only a few more weeks people until the most anticipated game of the year is out....it feels so strange though just knowing we all heard about this game like what in april or may? Oh yeah, everyone who voted i was cool...are now my lovers...woohoo.

Yeah, bout 2 months....Which is 8 weeks. Not bad. If it comes out the 30th! Hey, token I live in Austin too! Didn't know you were from here. ;) PM me. Anyways, I am going to try my best getting H2 like on the 24th and beat it, so by the 30th I will start MP. That's the way to do it. Cuz I beat most people will go to the MP first.
 
I voted for play single player all the way through, but my guess is valve has something really big going on with multiplayer, and I think im gonna give in and play it b4 i beat sp.
 
I always play through until i am done with SP unless SP consists of MP with bots. as it is with quake 3 or battlefield 1942
 
Like someone said before, you gotta do Single player first. I ruined Half life for mysef(well not ruined;)) by going MP and getting all the weapons and stuff before i had a chance to "earn" my guns in SP. So this time, unless people are going crazy over MP, i will try and clock SP on easy-medium level then do MP. Oh what fun :D
 
single player all the way, i cant wait to find out more about the story. Ill probly stay away from MP untill im done SP just because im sick of all the damn MP games. The worst things about MP is the damn people, sure sometimes there cool, but a lot of times there are just assholes ruining a MP game. Im not saying i dont like MP, it just pisses me off sometimes, and i need a damn break from MP.
 
well seeing as we know little to nothing about multiplayer.......

ill probably play SP first just to get used to things.
 
I don't care how you are going to play an unreleased game.

Until I have it infront of me, how am I going to know what I'll enjoy more?

i think i'll play sp 'till i feel like playing MP, but instead of going immediately online i'll just play it with 2 friends on my lan.
 
If HL2 ships with an instagib setting for the various game types then I'll jump right into MP. Otherwise, I will wait so as not to ruin the surprises the game has in store. I like MP when a game is first released, it's easy to find servers and the maps haven't all been dialed-in by the players.

SP first guys... jeez. How can you miss the sequel to the best single player game of all time? How can you miss something that is supposed to be much longer and better than the best game of all time? You've got to play SP first - I can't imagine jumping into MP.
 
To this day i have never played MP HL, deathmatch aint my bag, i played TF for a bitty then CS untill now.

So for me i will have to play SP untill a decent mod comes out unless multiplayer HL2 is fucing awsome, or comes with TF2 or CS2 hint hint valve!!
 
My plan for release day is locking myself in my house with a friend, all teh snacks, drinks and cigs you could dream of and jsut play it side by side straight through.
But Im sure we will check out some of the MP maps in between.
 
I voted back and forth, but if the single player game is really as good as I think it could be, I'll most likely just stick with SP.

Revolutionary AI: SP only.
Detailed, lifelike characters: SP only.
Striders, hydras, zombies, etc: Sp only.
Moments: Sp only.

By moments, I mean like in HL when you first saw that first grunt take out the scientist, and you were totally confused. Then he started shooting at you and had to take him down. Then, unsure of what was going on, you went up that elevator and the heavy music started thumping and all the grunts came down off the helis and shit, that was cool.
 
When I first get HL2 , im not just going to jump into multiplayer , first i wil force myself to beat the game (WITHOUT CHEATS) and then once thats all done , i will jump into online :)

Yeah, all 5 of them (at the time of writing this).
 
probably playing a little SP, til I get stuck or don't want to anymore (should be after 2 Hours or so), then fire up MP and start killing People!

in singleplayer you dont have to put up with assholes and the [KKK] clan(trust me, no matter your skin color you dont want to be on the same server as these guys)

i love singleplayer

Singleplayer or Multiplayer.... tough decision...


I vote for none of the above. I'd rather play both at the same time, if you get what I'm saying. :dork:
