Not a big fan of the Spanish Police force due to corruption, etc.

However, take a look at :
http://www.cbsnews.com/media/2004/04/06/video610577.wmv

Wonder if he'll ever commit a crime again, if he lives. Failing that, I wonder if anyone else has any plans on taking hostages in Spain any time soon.

It may be rough, it may be harsh and it may be quite savage but it gets the job done and puts the message across..

Go! Spanish Police, I say.

Wow...Thats just quite....Wow.

I suppose he got what he deserved. I mean, what if the police hadn't been there. He probably would of still hit a car like that. Speeding across an intersection the way he was.

I think that was just about deserved. People need to learn that crime like this is just unacceptable.

Also, that has to have been the most devious and down right harsh ways they could have done it :D

I can't get the vid to work. Was it the one with the motorcycle crash flippin him over a car?

Yeah...He does about 2 somersaults after hitting side on the front end of an unmarked dark coloured police car.

I don't know if you guys would still be saying it was deserved had the police snapped his neck in two. Seem a little excessive, I'm sure they could have thought of a better way to capture him. Shoot out a tire or just put a little gas in the tank or something.

I wouldnt see any reason to pussy foot around the guy. He had hostages and said he had a grenaid. Why shouldn't the police just run into the guy? Hell, they could have shot his ass right there. Would have made a little less of a mess.

Shooting out a tire on a high power bike would probably have just as much chance of killing him. Putting a small amount of gas in the tank would have just annoyed him and since he probably did have a grenade it would have been very dangerous.

Im not happy about him being hurt...i would rather the whole thing not happen. If his neck had been broken, then that is what he deserved. Plain and simple. You threaten to kill people...blow people up even just for a drug habbit. You then as good as steal a bike. When you go speeding off on the bike, you pay no regard to other road users as you just go riding over a junction...not exactly going to get you cake is it?

Instead of wricking an addtional car, they should have put something explosive into the bike.:E Fire!!! Mne-he-he!!! Fire!!!(C) Beavis

I was expecting something like them filling it up with enough fuel for it to last a few minutes but WOW, too right they should just be quite abbrupt.
It's actually kinda related to the IRA, since 9-11, the IRA have been quiet and disarming gently. Yeah there's still some way to go, but the no tolerance policy has scared em a bit. Also just before 9-11 there was some silly school walk fight in Ireland, it quickly went away.

I think a sniper on a building with a barrett .50 vapourising his torso would have done a better job for the no tolerance bit. This will just make potential hostage takers ask for tanks now :/

i think the police just used this as a way to send a message to any would-be troublemakers. 'feck with us and we'll give you as good as you give'.

there were non-lethal alternatives, but i guess it needed to be done. hats off to the spanish police for showing some guts. i wonder if we'll ever find out whether the guy is alive or not.

thats quite the fall the guy takes. I cant even tell which way he's facing when he lands. Seems like an appropriate way to take them. If he's threatening to kill others than the chance he might die when they apprehend him seems like a just idea.

"and the man does 2 complete revolutions and has a hard landing"

rofl...you would think he would have a soft one ;)
[/end sarcasm]:x

Actually...perhaps desrved is not quite the word i was looking for.

Facing the consequences is better. You take an action and there will be a reaction...in this case it was the police taking him down in a raltively hard manner.

it seems a bit unprofessional. the spanish police has snipers, swat, spike strips, choppers, they could have planted a bug on his bike and followed him, but instead they just run into him in an unmarked car, in the middle of a boulevard.

seems very "man on fire"-ish. I'm surprised some grizzled vet didn't get out of that black car and unload a clip into his body, then just get back in the car and drive off.
