Spore FINAL Release Date!

Excellent! Only a little more than six months until I can create my mushroom-people kingdom!
 
I'm going to make spider-bear nightmare creatures that poop and eat from the same orifice.
 
I don't have an idea of what I want to make, so many choices!! *Trying to figure one out*

I'm going to see if I can create the previously unsupposed lovechild of E.T. and a xenomorph.
 
I'm going to make half-tree half-tripods that live in perfectly triangular houses.

Every time there's a Spore media release I get less excited. The first video had me picking my jaw up off the floor every 5 minutes but it all seems to be getting less freeform and more menu based. The first one made the 'procedural' stuff seem really awesome with the creatures automatically finding eachothers weakpoints and Will's creature biting the neck off another one and wrestling it to the ground, then dragging it along while walking. Then in a later video they showed combat in the tribal stage and it was the same animation of the creature swinging the club in the same way over and over until the other thing dropped dead.

Is the game played online? I mean we got tons of galaxies and solar systems. Surely it must be online?

Last I read though, it DOES import other races made by other people from a giant database or something.

Im going to be making some ****ed up creatures.
 
Hopefully it's worth the wait.

I'm still a bit worried about how fun it'll be once you get to the space spart... hopefully there's enough to do to keep you from wanting to just start over or shelve the entire game afterward.
 
Everyone crying delay, just so you know, this is the actual FIRST OFFICIAL release date that has been released by -EA- whom are PUBLISHERS, so technically there has been no real delays afaik.

All previous release dates have been preliminaries given by generally Maxis, rather than from EA's publishing house.

It's also the first time the release date has been stated as being Official, and been on the website.

It's a retarded practice to get people so hyped up over a game years before it might even possibly come out. I mean it's cool to introduce your game and explain your vision and maybe show some stuff you have... but you should always follow it up with a "but this is still in the very beginning stages, you shouldn't expect this game for a couple years at least."

When I first read about and saw spore, it looked like it was in such a completed state and I got that impression from all the talk and discussions about it, that I've been really bummed out each year as it's been delayed.


Same goes for Pirates of the Burning Sea. <sigh>
 
I decided early on when I heard that your species would be downloaded to other peoples games if they needed one like it, that I was going to create a species of complete and total assholes.

Now my dream will soon be realized :D

I'm so going to make a race of Vortigaunts. Who live in Trees. And drive strange little hover-ufos. And wear party hats. Awesome.
